BOOK EXCERPT:
Life is a struggle. Life is a journey. Life is healing. Does life have you down? Are things just not how you wish they were? Are you struggling to see the light on the end of the dark and narrow tunnel? Life is not always sweet gumdrops and beautiful roses. It can be downright weary and troublesome, but it can also be amazing. It is up to us, each individual person, how we break through the ups and downs on this journey called life. We control our perceptions. We control our attitudes and our outlooks on each and everything that happens throughout this journey. Many times in life, our journey may take us down an unexpected path. It may be a smooth, fresh paved path, or it may be a path full of potholes. Even the path full of potholes can be smooth if you go around them. At times, some holes are unable to be avoided, so you need to find a way to keep driving that path without breaking the shocks of your car. It can be done with patience, understanding, prayer, and a little faith. Every moment in life can be used for good. Every moment can be a learning moment, an inspirational moment. It is your choice, but I will say that even through dark times, finding joy can be done if you only allow that joy in. Embrace life’s journey and shine your bright light for all to see.

BOOK EXCERPT:
This book is based on true events. It reveals a life's journey of a person who grew up in a corrupt third-world country, in one of the most popular families there. Despite that, he took a solid stand against the corruption that took over his country, including human rights violations, and destroyed everything beautiful there. And no matter the danger he faced and how hard his life became, his principles and determination motivated him along the way. The sacrifices he made throughout his life were huge, but still, no one or nothing was about to stop him from winning the fight. The names of the people and places in the story changed to names from the writer's imagination for safety reasons.

BOOK EXCERPT:
The book is a memoir of Lucjan Krause, Professor Emeritus of Physics at the University of Windsor in Canada. Born in Poznań in 1928, as a scout and Home Army soldier, he took part in the Warsaw Uprising and after its failure was sent to a POW camp in Germany. The first part of the book focuses on this period in his life and presents a vivid description of many dramatic events from an eyewitness perspective. In 1951, after graduating from the University of London, Lucjan Krause emigrated to Canada and was awarded his PhD in Physics at the University of Toronto. Afterwards he created a vibrant experimental centre for atomic and molecular physics at the University of Windsor. In the past fifty years numerous physicists from Toruń and other Polish scientific centres have participated in research conducted there as postdoctoral fellows. It was possible thanks to the cooperation initiated in 1963 by Lucjan Krause and Aleksander Jabłoński, the Head of the Physics Department of Nicolaus Copernicus University. The second part of Lucjan Krause’s book presents his account of this cooperation which allowed many Polish physicists to conduct experiments with the use of advanced equipment, not available in Poland at that time. In this way, Professor Lucjan Krause contributed significantly to the development of physics in Poland. Thus, Professor Lucjan Krause’s memoir represents not only an essential contribution to the history of the development of atomic physics in the last four decades of the 20th century in Canada and Poland, but also provides insight into Polish-Canadian scientific relations.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Often, we hear people say that all religions should be forbidden, because they only bring misery. These reactions are understandable when we see or hear the daily news. But where does all this misery come from? Is it because former religious leaders pursued self-interest too much, instead of the Christian faith from the source? Or is it our indifferent attitude, that offers negative forces a free path? To find the answer, we must go back to our source of life, to the reason for our earthly existence. It teaches us, that what we call religion, is the development of a spiritual consciousness, to elevate the human soul, the very self. And that the words of our Creator do not stop on the last page of the bible. He has sent us His New Revelations to encourage us and to find our way home again, to the House of our Eternal Loving Father. Whoever reads the book may realize how important it is to ask yourself life questions. How you can give substance to your earthly existence. That this book may help you on your way to find your purpose in your life’s journey.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Born in 1946, in Murton, a mining village in County Durham, in the aftermath of WWII, Thomas was to find himself growing up in interesting times. Coming from a working-class family where his parents had struggled to make a good home in which to raise their children, he was to follow the same pattern in trying to make life a little easier for his own children. He experienced the educational system of the 1950s and ’60s with all the failings encompassed within it and suffered failure at the eleven, plus an examination that would determine his future education. A taste of what school life was during this era is expressed with concern and humor both with equal quantities, including the teaching styles and some of the characters he was to spend his school days with, which are told with affection. As a child, life was good in his eyes, and he appreciated the efforts made by his parents to improve his childhood experience. In his early youth, he found himself having to constantly change course to achieve the goals he had set himself, and this continued throughout his adult life. His desire to achieve good academic qualifications never faltered, despite some of the obstacles that seemed to be in the way of his progress. Married at an early age and while studying for his higher national diploma, he became a father to a beautiful baby girl, which now added to this cocktail of life. Although at times life seemed a constant struggle, it was no different to many other young couples of that era, but there was always time for laughter and fun. Many of these times are reflected in the book and still bring a smile to both Thomas and his family and friends. Life’s Journey: Love, Live and Learn is a story many young couples can relate to as they may have experienced the same types of issues in their own life’s journey.

BOOK EXCERPT:
This book of poems and stories is a collection written by three women of one family. It was put together to honor of our belated but loved mother. When my son was young and started writing poetry, Mom said that one day she’d write too so we could do a book together since three was a holy number. She left her writings, my son stopped writing, but my sister stepped in so Mom’s dream could be realized. This is a book written by three. We pray those who read this book remember you’re never alone because God loves you in spite of yourself.

BOOK EXCERPT:
For years, I was a proud employee of General Motors. I loved my work as a Journeyman Electrician. Unfortunately, my work was transformed into a horror story when I was assigned to Pontiac Assembly Center. There, I was routinely bullied, harassed, and threatened by co-workers and supervisors. When I asked GM management for help, they responded by aligning themselves with my persecutors. I was threatened with physical violence, stalked, denied safety rights, forced to do work others were unwilling to do, and refused medical treatment. I was removed from a coveted job by a Superintendent, who cited my MS condition, blatantly ignoring rights afforded under ADA. I was called "Black Nigger Bitch". There were pictures posted about the plant, where I was depicted as "ROADKILL". KKK style nooses were hung in the plant. A General Foreman pressed his face close to mine and said, "I can't promise you you're going to live the next few minutes." I next turned to the justice system for help. When my case went before a Circuit Court Judge, he swiftly and willfully granted summary disposition judgments in GM's favor. Undaunted, I began my own investigation. In doing so, I discovered that 108 pages of my deposition had disappeared. I uncovered a letter from a GM executive threatening a union official who planned on helping me. My lawyer lied to me about having filed an appeal. Where is the justice when a court of law condones this as acceptable behavior in a civilized society? How can America hold itself out as a free and just society that other countries would choose to emulate? Should corporate entities such as GM be allowed to not only bend the law, but to break the law? How and why could such travesty have been allowed to occur?

BOOK EXCERPT:
This is the account of two men who believe that we are created for deep, meaningful, and emotionally intimate relationships. The authors have found these relationships with their wives, and they are models for their children. They experience this kind of relationship with each other. They share how vital these relationships are through their non-profit: Someone To Tell It To. They create safe environments for people to share the stories of their lives openly and unashamedly. They encourage others to find safe people in their lives to foster relationships that provide true support, unconditional love, and grace. This book shares the authors' stories and the stories of others who are seeking meaning and purpose in their lives, especially when faced with challenges and questions. Someone To Tell It To may remind us that we are not alone in our fears, or in our feelings of inadequacy and uncertainty. Readers may be motivated to create more vital connections in their lives, connections that can be life-giving and soul-enriching, that can bring peace in the dark seasons of our lives. "Having someone to tell it to," as author Miles Franklin writes, is "one of the fundamental needs of human beings."
