BOOK EXCERPT:
The short stories, poems, and pictures in Reflections are to honor God and show gratitude for His blessings. This collection is also a source where inspiration and encouragement may be found. Several months in the making and having been prepared and presented as devotions, Reflections brings together the author's love of God and nature, his love of people, some of his travels and photography along with mention of some personal experiences and a bit of humor. Each article or story in some way reveals God's love for His people, His blessings, and the need for a personal relationship with God.

BOOK EXCERPT:
This book is an inspiration to many who may have lost their way. Are you searching for absolute, truth for a foundation to live your life? Sometimes it takes a tragedy, or a personal lose, a changing event that brings you to your knees. Are you searching for someone far greater than yourself? Search no longer come back to the one who can save you from sin and walk in the way of the Lord. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6. The uncertainties I face at this time deepened my increasing closeness with God. The Bible Verses that kept catching my attention, now comforts me, “For ye shall go out in joy and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.” Isaiah 55:12; “Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105. And in the same way, let your light shine before men, that they can see your good works and give glory to your Father in Heaven. Matthew 5:16. There is a tugging at my heart to write this book. As my journey comes closer to God in Heaven I lean on Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit within me.

Applying Hegelian dialectical method, Krombach attempts to demonstate how Hegelian thinking provides a method to traverse the gulf between the history of philosophy and the idea of nuclear war, as well as showing its direct implications for conceptualizing environmental issues.

BOOK EXCERPT:
“Reflections” shares a personal journey and victory towards a loving relationship with God. It is straight from the heart, compelling, and provocative. “Reflections” explores the notions of who God wants us to be and suggests an interpretation of what He wants us to do. It presents us with a divine opportunity to ponder what we want from life, and it gives us the challenge to reflect the image of Christ Jesus. It is both dynamic and cathartic in life lessons and experiences, and the way we choose to live.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Using his etchings and paintings as a "visual diary," the author takes the reader on a journey revealing his motivations and personal experiences at the time the work was produced. The paintings and etchings are illustrated in full colour, and span a period of little more than thirty years, (1975 to 2009). Interspersed between the illustrations are essays on Oils, Perspective, Pigments, Photography etc., which describe various discoveries and innovations that have affected the way artists express themselves. In the preface, Robin Wall traces scientific developments over the last two hundred years that have profoundly altered the way we think about ourselves and our relationship to the universe. He argues that this paradigm shift should be a strong motivation for artists of all stripes, and could result in a new form of Romanticism. In this regard he examines the original Romantic movement and what he sees as a far sighted vision amongst some of its members.

BOOK EXCERPT:
The title of this book, Very Short Reflections--for Advent and Christmas, Lent and Easter, Ordinary Time and Saints--through the Liturgical Year, accurately describes its contents. Chapter 1 presents a short reflection for every day of the Advent Season. Chapter 2 does the same for every day of the Christmas season. Lent is covered in chapter 3, the Sacred Paschal Triduum in chapter 4, and the fifty days of the Easter season in chapter 5. Chapter 6 covers Ordinary Time. And chapter 7 presents a short reflection for every solemnity, feast, and memorial of saints, whose special day falls during the liturgical year. The short reflections are based on sets of Mass texts--Entrance Antiphon, Collect, Prayer over the Offerings, Preface, Communion Antiphon, Prayer after Communion, and Prayer over the People--presented for every day of Advent and Christmas, Lent and Easter, Ordinary Time and saints in The Roman Missal. The reflection identifies the theme of the day and presents how it is manifested in the Mass texts. These very short reflections are designed to expose to the reader the liturgical spirituality that emanates from the Mass texts.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Gasché expounds on Aristotle, Heidegger, and Arendt in “a major interpretative achievement that underscores what is at stake in political thought” (Notre Dame Philosophical Reviews). As one of the most respected voices of Continental philosophy today, Rodolphe Gasché pulls together Aristotle’s conception of rhetoric, Martin Heidegger’s debate with theory, and Hannah Arendt’s conception of judgment in a single work on the centrality of these themes as fundamental to human flourishing in public and political life. Gasché’s readings address the distinctively human space of the public square and the actions that occur there, and his valorization of persuasion, reflection, and judgment reveals new insight into how the philosophical tradition distinguishes thinking from other faculties of the human mind. “Here Rodolphe Gasche is at his best: rigorous, scholarly, creative, forceful, laser focused on the issues at stake, learned, thoughtful, and original. He demands much of his readers, but reading his work is rewarding in ways that can be profoundly affecting.” —Dennis J. Schmidt, author of Between Word and Image “Rodolphe Gasche has long been one of the most meticulous readers of texts on the philosophical scene and here he once again offers a master class in how to do philosophy through interpretation.” —Robert Bernasconi, author of How to Read Sartre

BOOK EXCERPT:
This book is an attempt to convey a few simple messages/suggestions/inspirations (call them what you may) on the meaning of what being a sinner/Christian is-for anyone willing to pick it up and read even a part of it. For this reason it is broken up into four parts-an essay on personal spiritual Christian warfare; reflections on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, essential building blocks of grace and belief; poems reflecting Christian perceptions of life in various areas; and, finally, fictional short stories about possible Christmas miracles in individual lives. Each section can stand by itself, but when they are all put together, they mean much more. That is, they express the full degree of spiritual wonder which can be found in a penitent sinner/Christians heart. So, my hope is that anyone willing to take a few moments to reflect on his/her relationship with God (the one true God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) will pick up this book and allow the words within to touch his or her heart in this journey we are all on to eternal life with God.
