There are well-founded concerns that current air transportation systems will not be able to cope with their expected growth. Current processes, procedures and technologies in aeronautical communications do not provide the flexibility needed to meet the growing demands. Aeronautical communications is seen as a major bottleneck stressing capacity limits in air transportation. Ongoing research projects are developing the fundamental methods, concepts and technologies for future aeronautical communications that are required to enable higher capacities in air transportation. The aim of this book is to edit the ensemble of newest contributions and research results in the field of future aeronautical communications. The book gives the readers the opportunity to deepen and broaden their knowledge of this field. Today's and tomorrow's problems / methods in the field of aeronautical communications are treated: current trends are identified; IPv6 aeronautical network aspect are covered; challenges for the satellite component are illustrated; AeroMACS and LDACS as future data links are investigated and visions for aeronautical communications are formulated.

The future of exploration reaches far beyond our planet. There's speculation about search networks expanding into space, allowing us to explore the mysteries of distant galaxies. As humanity's desire for discovery drives us toward the stars, these networks have the potential to unravel the universe's secrets. Imagine a future where communication with extraterrestrial beings is possible, enabling the exchange of knowledge across vast cosmic distances. I delve into this concept further in my books "The Cosmos" and "Searching for Aliens on Earth and in the Cosmos." While some contemporary scientists may argue for humanity's uniqueness in the universe, the future could offer a different perspective. Published in 1999, this book discusses the role that marginality has had in the past, has today and will have in the future. The Commission on Dynamics of Marginal and Critical Regions held its annual conference in Harare, Zimbabwe in July 1997. This volume represents a carefully selected, revised and reviewed selection of the papers presented at this conference. The articles reflect the various aspects of marginality currently existing in the world and it is the intention of the Commission to pursue research that would eventually result in a more coherent approach towards the issues of marginality in space. The articles in the book are grouped into three main parts. The first part discusses the role of theory and also methodological aspects and approaches towards the question of marginality. The second part gives a 'time-space' perspective by examining the past, present and future aspects of marginality. The third part is dedicated to empirical evidence about the changes in existing marginality and its possible future implementations. The conclusions of the book summarize the various and sometimes conflicting, aspects of marginality and its ’images’ both in space and in time.
