The Human Origins

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

There is more to the human origins, development, intelligence, and civilization, than the epic debate Creationism versus Evolution, simply because there is more to the human condition than what authorities and ideologies want you to believe. Therefore, when you study the human origins, you have to search beyond the moment when the first humans had detached from the firmament or previous species, since there are other significant events in humanity’s lifespan and achievement defining its specific timeline. While you have to study everything, otherwise you risk understanding these significant events only from simplistic empirical or ideological perspectives, ending up learning what you already know, while following the crowd throughout unending debates. Since you want the accurate truth, because you already know all theories, beliefs, speculations, and debates regarding the human origins. And this is why, when you study the human origins, you expect to understand everything about the origins of life, the nature and origins of this world, the nature of the human higher self and intelligence, the origins and debut of the human consciousness and human intelligent reasoning, along with all details related to the Creator of this entire world, of Life, and of humanity. Additionally, it is relevant to know how all these affect you personally, and how they affect your family, your genetic line, and your nation, how your family and genetic line originate, where and how it happened, under what circumstances, and with what status and privileges for you, for your family, for your nation, and for the humankind. And this is exactly what we cover throughout this book, in all details and from all perspectives. This book studies the human origins, along with the origins of life, human intelligence, human species, human development, human society, human current civilization along with various past civilizations of Earth, integrating humans, their origins, and their original and current conditions in an elaborate comprehensive model.

The Steps Of Man Towards Civilization

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

This book delivers an introduction to the theory programme called structure-genetic sociology. I developed this theory programme in the past 30 years. In the meantime, I have written ten books and numerous articles about the subject. The programme mainly bases on developmental psychology and has worked it out to a theory of the evolution of humankind. It encompasses a theory of social change and social evolution, a theory of the development of economy, society, culture, sciences, religion, morals, law, and manners. The fact of the anthropological evolution of humankind from lower, childlike anthropological stages to more elaborated stages is the most groundbreaking and fascinating fact in all social sciences and humanities. It is the only phenomenon within humanities and social sciences whose relevance and importance corresponds to the fact of biological evolution provided by Darwin ́s evolutionary theory. This fact forms the kernel of the entire theory programme. Structure-genetic sociology is the theoretical heir of the outstanding classical approaches such as the classical sociologies, the classical British anthropology, the ethnology of Lucien Lévy-Bruhl, the developmental psychology of Jean Piaget, and the philosophy of symbolic forms of Ernst Cassirer. We can understand these classical achievements only against the background of the more elaborated empirical foundations and theoretical structures of my structure-genetic sociology. It helps to verify, to correct, to develop, and to improve the best traditions of social sciences and humanities. Structure-genetic sociology formulates the essence of three hundred years of social sciences and humanities.

Geopolitics In Central Europe

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

The geopolitical landscape of Central Europe has undergone considerable transformation in the last two decades. While the pre-Global Financial Crisis period saw a focus on strengthening ties with Western Europe and the USA, the post-crisis period has seen reorientation towards Asia, in particular China. This book charts these changes in geopolitical dominance in the region, covering the economic influence of China, the increasingly assertive diplomatic involvement of Russia and increased US interest in the region under the Biden administration. The book also seeks to explain why the countries of Central Europe are realigning their geopolitical alliances towards the great powers as confidence in the European project and its economic benefits has waned, and what opportunities this realignment could hold.

Global Social Work

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Global social work: crossing borders, blurring boundaries is a collection of ideas, debates and reflections on key issues concerning social work as a global profession, such as its theory, its curricula, its practice, its professional identity; its concern with human rights and social activism, and its future directions. Apart from emphasising the complexities of working and talking about social work across borders and cultures, the volume focuses on the curricula of social work programs from as many regions as possible to showcase what is being taught in various cultural, sociopolitical and regional contexts. Exploring the similarities and differences in social work education across many countries of the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Pacific, the book provides a reference point for moving the current social work discourse towards understanding the local and global context in its broader significance.

India In A Warming World

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Riven with scientific uncertainty, contending interests, and competing interpretations, the problem of climate change poses an existential challenge. For India, such a challenge is compounded by the immediate concerns of eradicating poverty and accelerating development. Moreover, India has played a relatively limited role thus far in causing the problem. Despite these complicating factors, India has to engage this challenge because a pathway to development innocent of climate change is no longer possible. The volume seeks to encourage public debate on climate change as part of India’s larger development discourse. This volume brings together leading researchers and practitioners—negotiators, activists, and policymakers—to lay out the emergent debate on climate change in India. Through these chapters, the contributors hope to deepen clarity both on why India should engage with climate change and how it can best do so, even while appreciating and representing the challenges inherent in doing so.

Life Span Motor Development

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Life Span Motor Development, Eighth Edition With HKPropel Access, is a leading text for helping students understand a person’s movement abilities as the interaction of the individual’s development and maturation, the environment, and the task being performed. This model of constraints approach, combined with an unprecedented collection of video clips marking motor development advancements, facilitates an unmatched learning experience for the study of motor development across the life span. Life Span Motor Development helps students understand how maturational age and chronological age are distinct and how functional constraints affect motor skill development and learning. It shows how the four components of physical fitness—cardiorespiratory endurance, strength, flexibility, and body composition—interact to affect a person’s movements over the life span, and it describes how relevant social, cultural, psychosocial, and cognitive influences can affect a person’s movements. It also now includes more content on atypical development; new Spotlight on Disability sidebars help readers use the constraints perspective to better understand how various disabilities influence motor development. The eighth edition continues the tradition of making the student’s experience with motor development an interactive one. Related online learning tools delivered through HKPropel include an updated video library with more than 200 video clips, showing motor development milestones, to sharpen observation techniques; flash cards; key term quizzes; and 48 lab activities (including one new to this edition) to facilitate critical thinking and hands-on application. Some lab activities may be assigned and tracked by instructors through HKPropel, and sample answers for the lab activities are found in the instructor guide. Chapter quizzes are automatically graded to test comprehension of critical concepts. This edition features updated, modernized artwork and includes 142 illustrations, 60 photos, and 24 tables—all in full color—to help explain concepts and to make the text more engaging for students. It also retains helpful learning aids, including chapter objectives, a running glossary, key points, sidebars, and application questions throughout the text. Each chapter begins with a section titled Motor Development in the Real World, which presents realistic experiences that help readers connect with the material. Each chapter ends with a section titled Reinforcing What You Have Learned About Constraints, which prompts readers to answer questions about the material and complete learning exercises. Answers to these questions are included in the instructor guide. Life Span Motor Development, Eighth Edition, embraces an interactive and practical approach to illustrate the most recent research in motor development. Students will come away with a firm understanding of the concepts and how they apply to real-world situations.
