Over the past several decades, Reformed theologian and biblical scholar James B. Jordan has produced a unique body of work. His electrifying commentaries and essays on Scripture, along with his penetrating writings on Trinitarian theology, liturgics, music, and culture have inspired a growing number of pastors and theologians. In this Festschrift, Jordan's friends and associates celebrate his contributions by applying his methods and insights to a range of biblical, theological, liturgical, and cultural questions. The Glory of Kings aims to bring Jordan's work to the attention of a wider audience and to introduce the work of a scholar that R. R. Reno has called one of the most important Christian intellectuals of our day.

The 1st NICCT (International Conference on Creativity & Technology) 2019 was held in Universitas HKBP Nommensen Medan (UHN Medan), Indonesia on September 20-21, 2019. This conference was organized by Department of Music, Faculty of Language and Arts, UHN and the theme of this year conference was Empowering Culture, Nature and Technology for Social Well Being. This conference has facilitated a mutual exchange of ideas and information from various backgrounds of stakeholder (either domestic or international) related to the utilization of recent technologies. High enthusiasm coming from the participants of this conference was reflected by high number of good quality papers received. Our committees are delighted to present this proceeding as a compilation of carefully selected papers representing each scope provided by the conference, such as Creative Application, Arts & Culture, Economics, Psychology, Education, Law, Politics, Social Studies, Management, New Media & Technology, Mobile Application, Projection Mapping, Sound Technology, Graphical User Interface and Information Technology. We would like to express our gratitude to all parties who have sincerely supported and contributed to the success of the 1st NICCT 2019, either during the conference and the post-conference publication. Autopsy means to "look for yourself within" or "to see with your own eyes." We will open the spiritual body with the scalpel of God's two-edged sword, the Word of God. As we begin the autopsy of the dead church we immediately find that DNA evidence links every person in the church with an infamous and ancient crime scene--the Garden of Eden. As we continue the autopsy of this dead church we find the fingerprints of a noted murderer and thief all over the body. Like all of us, Satan has certain traits that identify his prints. The dead church has had major brain damage. In some cases there is an enchanting or forceful preacher that has performed a spiritual lobotomy hindering any deep or independent biblical thinking of the people of the church.

"The Oxford Handbook of Community Singing shows in abundant detail that singing with others is thriving. Using an array of interdisciplinary methods, chapter authors prioritize participation rather than performance and provide finely grained accounts of group singing in community, music therapy, religious, and music education settings. Themes associated with protest, incarceration, nation, hymnody, group bonding, identity, and inclusivity infuse the 47 chapters. Written almost wholly during the 2020-21 COVID-19 pandemic, the Handbook features a section dedicated to collective singing facilitated by audiovisual or communications media (mediated singing), some of it quarantine-mandated. The last of eight substantial sections is a repository of new theories about how group singing practices work. Throughout, the authors problematize the limitations inherited from the western European choral music tradition and report on workable new remedies to counter those constraints"--

This book explores popular support for the Church of England during a critical period, from the Stuart Restoration to the mid-eighteenth century, when Churchmen perceived themselves to be under attack from all sides. In many provincial parishes, the clergy also found themselves in dispute with their congregations. These incidents of dispute are the focus of a series of detailed case studies, drawn from the diocese of Salisbury, which help to bring the religion of the ordinary people to life, while placing local tensions in their broader national context. The period 1660–1740 provides important clues to the long-term decline in the popularity of the Church. Paradoxically, conflicts revealed not anticlericalism but a widely shared social consensus supporting the Anglican liturgy and clergy: the early eighteenth century witnessed a revival. Nevertheless, a defensive clergy turned inwards and proved too inflexible to respond to lay wishes for fuller participation in worship.

This book examines the influence of music on the development of the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee). This narrative is historically driven, but relies upon an interdisciplinary approach to draw on the insights of ecclesiology, theology, liturgiology, church development, and especially music. This study utilizes a chronological and systematic approach to the relationship between music and the Church of God in the United States during the first 125 years of the denomination's history, from 1886 to 2011. For over a century, music has been an often-neglected dialogue partner at the table of academic discussion and this research argues for recognition and a proper place in Pentecostal history. Along with primary and secondary sources, the important element of "living archives" is investigated in this work; these are interviews with people who participated in historical music events in the Church of God. The book also relies upon musical examples to explore the influence of music upon the shaping of the denomination's history and theology.
