This doctoral dissertation in computer science describes how traditional chalk and talk lectures can be transmitted over the web while maximizing the quality and minimizing the amount of extra effort. The book presents a comprehensive discussion on many technological and humand-centered issues using the example of the software system "E-Chalk" that was co-developed by the author. As a by-product, the work includes a detailed description of the so-called "Simple Interactive Object Extration (SIOX)" algorithm that has recently been integrated in several open-source image manipulation programs such as GIMP, Inkscape, and Blender.

Aims and ScopeThe mission of the AsiaCALL International Conference (AsiaCALL) is to give researchers, educators, and teachers from all over the world a place to share their teaching experience and classroom research. This is done through conferences and seminars. Selected full papers presented at the AsiaCALL International Conference will be published in the Conference Proceedings, and Journals with Open Access to share the participants’ research, teaching experiences. A series of 10 lectures on various aspects of Cognitive Linguistics as these relate to matters of language teaching and learning. Topics addressed include the role of categorization, the nature of rules, the encyclopaedic scope of semantics, spatial expressions, metaphor and metonymy, nouns and nominals, tense and aspect, and the theoretical status of the phoneme.
