This book summarizes the results of a multimethod project on school development performed during the COVID-19 pandemic. It combines innovative theoretical approaches and findings as well as long-term online research activities in which student assessments delivered the bases for adaptive teacher trainings. The theoretical foundations relate to sustainable conditions of classroom and school development, an approach to personality development, and a focus on instructional coherence. Empirical findings concern the development of learning-strategy use and classroom needs over time as well as a model for effective teacher education and related course evaluations. A further research area concerns advanced perspectives from digital-learning research, such as the effects of social media in classrooms, mixed and virtual learning materials, computer-based collaborative learning, and innovative interventions in media research. The book is aimed at researchers, teacher trainers, instructional designers, and practitioners in the field of school development as well as teacher education.

These proceedings represent the work of contributors to the 22nd European Conference on e-Learning (ECEL 2023), hosted by University of South Africa, Pretoria, South Africa on 26-27 October 2023. The opening keynote presentation is given by Professor Thenjiwe Meyiwa, Vice Principal for the Research, Postgraduate Studies, Innovation and Commercialisation at University of South Africa who will speak on, “The Role of African Feminisms in Shaping a Sustainable Future of Being and Learning”. An afternoon keynote on Thursday will be made by Dr Zolile Martin Mguda, University of South Africa on the topic of “ChatGPT: The first year”. The second day of the conference will open with an address by Dr Isabel Tarling, MD, Limina, South Africa with the title “Developing Digital Standards for Learning and Teaching in South Africa’s Schools”. With an initial submission of 100 abstracts, after the double blind, peer review process there are 45 Academic research papers, 3 PhD research papers and 1 Masters Research paper published in these Conference Proceedings. These papers represent research from Belgium, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, Mozambique, Norway, Oman, Perú, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th International Workshop on Learning Technology for Education in Cloud, LTEC 2017, held in Beijing, China, in August 2017. The 16 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 37 submissions. Recently, technology and aging have been key research areas in human cognition. The Research Topic “Digital Skills and Life-long Learning: Digital Learning as a New Insight of Enhanced Learning by the Innovative Approach Joining Technology and Cognition” investigated technology's impact on cognitive and intellective processes, highlighting how intensively technology can change and/or enhance the cognitive functioning throughout one’s lifespan. The aim of this Research Topic was to provide an outlook through multidisciplinary research and development while addressing the dynamic intersection of cognition, mind, and technology. Our scope was 1) to favor the cognitive technology debate, 2) to overcome the dichotomies of technology and psychology, 3) to emphasize the advances in knowledge and well-being. This Research Topic comprises review studies and original articles, focused on digital skills that enhance human potential. Transversal approaches and cross-sectorial analysis were encouraged, leading to investigation areas related to cognitive and mental processing—in educational, rehabilitation, clinical settings—across aging. Articles of high relevance to the Research Topic were submitted on the subjects of a) research in human performance and human factors, b) new research and technologies addressing the needs of a growing populace, and c) cognitive aging and cognitive rehabilitation research.
