A story of passion, greed, secrets and lies. A reclusive woman living in outback Australia receives a letter acknowledging a terrible secret from her past. From the London pop scene, to the opera stages of Europe; from a tiny Greek island, to a stifling manor house full of secrets and deceptions; from the sun-drenched Queensland coast, to the silent outback; Angela and Ellie are two women both looking for something. One in search of her identity and her memory, the other in search of the love that she had and lost – theirs is a duet whose last note will not be sung until the heart-stopping climax, when a shadow from the past returns to claim them both. ‘If you enjoy the novels of Paullina Simons you will love Duet’ - Courier Mail Author Biography Kimberley Freeman was born in London and grew up in Brisbane. The Pastor Congregation Duet

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

In a time of shifting worldviews and changing expectations of the church, how does a pastor navigate the challenges, joys, and pains of ministry? How does a church support, love, and hold accountable its pastoral leaders? The key lies in the relationship between pastor and congregation – in the duet they are singing, in the rhythms of their life together. In this book, Gary Harder reflects on the difficulties and rewards, the missteps and humour that are part of learning that ministry duet. Here he celebrates the mysterious ways God works through, and sometimes in spite of, the people singing God’s songs together. We reach for harmony. We hear dissonant notes. We catch only a glimpse of God’s beautiful music. And that is enough.

Handel S Messiah

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

The soundtrack of the Christmas season for many music lovers, Messiah is performed annually by choral societies across the world. And so, perhaps unsurprisingly, many aspects of it have been explored by scholars over the years. The work is the subject of several listeners’ guides and there are a number of books and articles of various lengths that describe the biographical circumstances of the work’s formation and details of its many performances, many including lists of singers for each performance (an area that has itself spawned a whole field of research). There has been no extensive study of the creative process of Messiah, however, since 1969. This book seeks to redress this imbalance by providing a thorough investigation of the work’s creative process. Beginning with the creative process of the libretto, it examines the earliest sketches, Handel’s use of pre-existent material, alterations made to the autograph score, and the latest versions of movements. Each stage of composition is examined via primary source material, with particular reference to the autograph score and conducting score. Each chapter is formed as a case study and contains related discussion points for use in teaching or study settings.

Classics For Piano Duet Book 1

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

These duet arrangements offer late elementary to early intermediate pianists the opportunity to play the classics at a much earlier level than if they were to wait to play the original version. By dividing the pieces between two performers, the individual parts are simpler, but the fullness and integrity of the originals remain. Highlights from Book 1 are Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag and Rubinstein's Melody in F.
