The story is a short one, and only calls for a preface in this way, that it enables me to explain why some of the incidents referred to, which have already been mentioned in a little volume published nearly thirty years ago, are again discussed. The volume in question has long been out of print; that part of its contents again appear is be cause, 'were they omitted, some of the most interesting matters found in the church records would be lost sight of; hence no apology is made for their introduction.
