Thoughts For My Children

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

My purpose in writing this short book is to share my thoughts with my loved ones, especially the children in my life. I hope these words will be a lasting legacy to my children and grandchildren as they grow up and after I am gone. None of these thoughts are original or insightful. They are simple truths and ideas. But young people seldom take the time to sit down and think about basic things. As people like me get older, we see young people make mistakes or suffer or destroy relationships and friendships over simple and obvious issues. I have often looked back and wished I had made some small things part of my approach much earlier in my life. I still often wish I could impart some time-gathered wisdom to my children and grandchildren to smooth their path, allow them to avoid mistakes, and give them a long-term perspective in this short-term, short-sighted world. This book is my effort to share some of what I have learned. These short chapters are not an exhaustive examination of the topics under discussion. Rather they are straight to the point and simple as a grandfather would make the point to a young person who is not excited about sitting down for a long discussion about "meaning of life" issues with Granddad. I hope the young people who read these words will get the gist. For those who need more depth, hopefully, these words will get the discussion started. I plan to share this book with my grandkids. I hope it will be of interest to them. But just as important, I hope this book will be read and appreciated by many grandparents who love their grandchildren. Maybe my words will give them a chance to have a short discussion with their own loved ones. They can share all or some of the points as they see fit. They can share my thoughts and add to them their own take. If they agree with me, this may be an easy way to share some truth and advice. If they disagree, this will be a good place to begin the conversation. I pray that once the habit of discussion with their grandchildren is established, they can share other thoughts that are important to them. God speed, Frank Sanders

Our Thoughts Create Our Experience

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

This book covers the whole man and how to align the body, soul and spirit as one. Your purpose and calling are tied together. As you discover your purpose, you will then discover your calling. Your purpose is inside, and your calling is outward. This book will assist you in the process of preparing first the foundation which begins in the soul. The reason people are so unhappy in what they do is that they have not discovered their God-given purpose inwardly, which is revealed by the Holy Spirit. Our purpose is internal and eternal; our souls are also internal and eternal. God-given purpose has to do solely with man's soul. It first begins with the soul, then outward to one's calling. It is important to first develop the soul's purpose as the soul houses the character of the man. Man's character will affect positively or negatively man's calling. This is the process that the Holy Spirit takes God's people through as He did with Jesus in the wilderness to test His character; that is, His soul.

Food For Thought

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

"Food For Thought: An Epigenetic Guide to Wellness" By George J. Febish and Jo Anne Oxley You Make Your Own Luck! How to Change Your Health Luck! We have more Control Than we Think! American health is getting worse and people actually believe that getting old equates to getting ill. Co-authors George J. Febish and Jo Anne Oxley declare that this is absolutely not true. People are empowered to be as healthy as they can be. People do not have good or bad genes. The problem is that genes are being turned ON or OFF, which causes health or illness. In Food For Thought: An Epigenetic Guide to Wellness, the authors reveal what turns genes on and off and how people can control these switches. In this book, readers can explore two new fields of biology that impact the quality of life. Epigenetics is the study of how human genes are switched on and off. For example, cancer genes can either be turned on or off and tumor fighting genes can be turned on or off. Nutrigenomics is the study of how different foods cause epigenetic switches to our genes. It is a mapping of which foods switch on or off which genes. The state of ones health is not random nor is it luck. It is the sum of all the decision a person makes in his of her life. It includes foods eaten and those not eaten, how one thinks, what one believes in as well as the physical environment one lives in. Food For Thought: An Epigenetic Guide to Wellness will teach readers how they can control life changing switches to improve their health, lifestyle, and mental attitude. Each one is responsible for his or her health. Doctors and the government are not responsible. Making the right decisions and living a better life is everybodys choice.

Thinking Beyond The State

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Human mobility has been a widely examined phenomenon in the social sciences, and in this increasingly globalized world migration continues to be of significant concern. The chapters comprising this volume on Thinking Beyond the State address the need to think beyond prevailing state discourses in problematizing human movements between Japan and the Philippines, by focusing on the presence of other actors involved in these processes. This collection investigates a range of issues that are part and parcel of the migration experience: citizenship and nationality, migrant incorporation and integration, human security, migrant welfare, philanthropy, identity, and multiculturalism. The editor and contributors aim to inform the larger public of the realities that are embedded in this particular phenomenon, as well as engage academics involved in migration studies. The book will be a valuable resource to those with professional interests in the East Asian region, most particularly in Japan and the Philippines.

Leading With Strategic Thinking

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Be a more effective leader with strategic thinking Leading with Strategic Thinking reveals what effective leaders do differently. Eschewing the one-size-fits-all leadership model, this helpful guide outlines four general leadership types and demonstrates how each type achieves success – whether through personal vision, structured process, collaboration, or by empowering others. The authors identify the actions and skills that distinguish strategic leadership, drawn from interviews and focus groups with over three hundred leaders from around the world. Examples and case studies illustrate these concepts in action, and the provided reference materials steer readers toward more advanced information on this important topic. The disruptive forces of technology and globalization raise new challenges for leaders. This book is a manual that will help executives and aspiring leaders harness these forces and address the two central questions of strategic leadership: How do the best leaders develop their strategy? How do effective leaders drive strategic change? Becoming a strategic leader isn’t about mimicking an icon. The most effective leaders seize opportunity in a way that consciously integrates environmental requirements, stakeholder expectations, and personal ability. Leading with Strategic Thinking shows what these leaders do, and gives anyone the tools to be a more strategic leader.

Routledge Handbook Of The History Of Global Economic Thought

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

The Routledge Handbook of the History of Global Economic Thought offers the first comprehensive overview of the long-run history of economic thought from a truly international perspective. Although globalization has facilitated the spread of ideas between nations, the history of economics has tended to be studied either thematically (by topic), in terms of different currents of thought, or individually (by economist). Work has been published in the past on the economic thought traditions of specific countries, but this pioneering volume is unique in offering a wide-ranging comparative account of the development of economic ideas and philosophies on the international stage. The volume brings together leading experts on the development of economic ideas from across the world in order to offer a truly international comparison of the economics within nation-states. Each author presents a long-term perspective on economics in their region, allowing global patterns in the progress of economic ideas over time to be identified. The specially commissioned chapters cover the vast sweep of the history of economics across five world regions, including Europe (England, Scotland, Ireland, Italy Greece, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Sweden, Russia and the Ukraine), the Americas (the USA, Canada, Mexico and Central America, Spanish-Speaking South America, Brazil and the Caribbean), the Middle East (Turkey, Israel, Arab-Islamic Economics, Persia/Iran, North Africa), Africa (West Africa, Southern Africa, Mozambique and Angola), and the Asia-Pacific Region (Australia and New Zealand, China, Southeast Asia, the Asian Tigers, India.) This rigorous, ambitious and highly scholarly volume will be of key interest to students, academics, policy professionals and to interested general readers across the globe.
