BOOK EXCERPT:
Every human has enormous talent and seeks to realize their full potential. We all want to be unique, special, good and extraordinary. But most of us today are not exceptional. Most of us have not yet discovered and fully developed our talents and we are not contributing to society. We instinctively want to fit in, be normal, and belong. Our urge to be accepted and loved compels us to conform by adopting the attitudes of others. We think and behave how our friends and family expect us to. Often, the attitudes and beliefs promoted by our friends and family do not facilitate individual growth. They suffocate our personal development and influence decisions that often result in dissatisfaction, sadness, frustration, anger, stress, and even depression and illness. We become so burdened with health, security, and relationship issues, that we have no time, energy or resources to develop our talents and achieve our full potential as human beings. We are caught as individuals and as a society-in crises created and compounded by our strong allegiance to friends and family.

BOOK EXCERPT:
The COVID-19 pandemic: uncensored observations, mini stories and more Reflections on the catastrophe that was the COVID-19 pandemic. The pieces of writing in this collection are presented in three categories: – ‘Lockdown’. Restricted movement, common activities banned and socialising outlawed. These are three key aspects of the brutal, draconian rules we had to live by. ‘Lockdown’ looks at life under severe, often debilitating restrictions. – ‘The Government’. Wreaking havoc with a few choice words, allowing our lives to go into meltdown and exercising a frightening amount of power. These are three things governments did in an attempt to protect us from the deadly virus. ‘The Government’ questions and criticises many decisions made by our daring leaders. – ‘The Media’. Inducing terror with overly dramatic headlines, encouraging us all to panic and making us see the harmless as hazardous. These are three things the media did while the virus continued its assault on the world. ‘The Media’ is all about the official reporting of the pandemic and how it affected our approach to it. The pandemic affected us all and changed our lives in breathtaking ways. Everyone has thoughts, opinions and beliefs to do with it. Here are mine. If you’re after a social commentary that gets you thinking about the nightmare pandemic, you’ll enjoy reading Viral. Buy now and see what I have to say about the virus that plunged the world into a crisis situation like no other.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Finally: an evidence-based, reassuring guide to what to do about kids and screens, from video games to social media. Today's babies often make their debut on social media with the very first sonogram. They begin interacting with screens at around four months old. But is this good news or bad news? A wonderful opportunity to connect around the world? Or the first step in creating a generation of addled screen zombies? Many have been quick to declare this the dawn of a neurological and emotional crisis, but solid science on the subject is surprisingly hard to come by. In The Art of Screen Time, Anya Kamenetz -- an expert on education and technology, as well as a mother of two young children -- takes a refreshingly practical look at the subject. Surveying hundreds of fellow parents on their practices and ideas, and cutting through a thicket of inconclusive studies and overblown claims, she hones a simple message, a riff on Michael Pollan's well-known "food rules": Enjoy Screens. Not too much. Mostly with others. This brief but powerful dictum forms the backbone of a philosophy that will help parents moderate technology in their children's lives, curb their own anxiety, and create room for a happy, healthy family life with and without screens.

The hilarious new stand-alone romantic comedy perfect for any mom who’s tried to have it all. “I don’t think I have laughed out loud so much at a book while at the same time - felt so emotionally connected to the characters.” -This Book, That Life On social media, April Davis totally has her life in order. She’s the Calm Mom—a social influencer with a reputation for showing moms how to stay calm and collected through yoga. Ha, as if. Because behind the scenes, April’s barely holding it all together. Her kids aren’t behaving, her husband left her for his skydiving instructor, and her top knot proves she hasn’t showered in days... Then a live video of the “always chill” April goes viral. Now everyone knows that “Calm Mom” is most definitely not. Now a media conglomerate has purchased April’s brand and too-sexy-for-his-own-good Jack Gibson has been sent to clean up April’s viral mess. But toddler tea parties and a dog with a penchant for peeing on his shoes is definitely not part of the deal. Now April’s calm has disappeared faster than her kids running from vegetables. Worse, the sparks flying between her and Jack have her completely out of her depth. And this Not-So-Calm Mom is going to need a lot more than margaritas to find her way back to herself again. Each book in the Mommy Wars series is STANDALONE: * Rachel, Out of Office * There's Something About Molly * April May Fall * Everything’s Fine, Emmaline

Here's something you may not know about today's Internet. Simply by designing your product the right way, you can build a flourishing business from scratch. No advertising or marketing budget, no need for a sales force, and venture capitalists will flock to throw money at you. Many of the most successful Web 2.0 companies, including MySpace, YouTube, eBay, and rising stars like Twitter and Flickr, are prime examples of what journalist Adam L. Penenberg calls a "viral loop" -- to use it, you have to spread it. After all, what's the sense of being on Facebook if none of your friends are The result: Never before has there been the potential to create wealth this fast, on this scale, and starting with so little. In this game-changing must-read, Penenberg tells the fascinating story of the entrepreneurs who first harnessed the unprecedented potential of viral loops to create the successful online businesses -- some worth billions of dollars -- that we have all grown to rely on. The trick is that they created something people really want, so much so that their customers happily spread the word about their product for them. All kinds of businesses -- from the smallest start-ups to nonprofit organizations to the biggest multinational corporations -- can use the paradigm-busting power of viral loops to enable their business through technology. BOOK EXCERPT:
By returning to what we once had...We can recover what we once enjoyed. In the early centuries Christianity was an explosive, viral movement that spread by word of mouth. Persecution could not stop it. In fact, it often helped to spread it. But today, the gospel is no longer spreading like wildfire throughout the Western world. Slowly, Christianity has morphed into something much different...a stable institutionalized religion that no longer grips us with the excitement and spirituality of the early years. Ross Rohde believes that this excitement and passion can be recaptured. In Viral Jesus he uses examples from the Bible and today to explore how we can return to our roots and once again enjoy the excitement, simple spirituality, and explosive growth of early Christianity.
