This monograph aims to provide a rigorous yet accessible presentation of some fundamental concepts used in modeling brain mechanics and give a glimpse of the insights and advances that have arisen as a result of the nascent interaction of the mathematical and neurosurgical sciences. It begins with some historical perspective and a brief synopsis of the biomedical/biological manifestations of the clinical conditions/diseases considered. Each chapter proceeds with a discussion of the various mathematical models of the problems considered, starting with the simplest models and proceeding to more complex models where necessary. A detailed list of relevant references is provided at the end of each chapter. With the beginning research student in mind, the chapters have been crafted to be as self-contained as possible while addressing different clinical conditions and diseases. The book is intended as a brief introduction to both theoreticians and experimentalists interested in brain mechanics, with directions and guidance for further reading, for those who wish to pursue particular topics in greater depth. It can also be used as a complementary textbook in a graduate level course for neuroscientists and neuroengineers.

I propose the project of an artificial brain human like. It hinges on neurophysiology and psychophysics and it develop within the groove of classic mechanics. I discuss: how the tangle of electrical excitations produced in the brain on observing the world can be interpreted as the image of this same world; how the image can be recognised and how humans can move in the environment; how language and grammatical variations are formed. I have simulate part of human visual processes on the computer, those which do not involve movement; what remains must be considered hypothetical theory.

This book covers theoretical and experimental findings at the interface between fluid mechanics, heat transfer and energy technologies. It reports on the development and improvement of numerical methods and intelligent technologies for a wide range of applications in mechanical, power and materials engineering. It reports on solutions to modern fluid mechanics and heat transfer problems, on strategies for studying and improving the dynamics and durability of power equipment, discussing important issues relating to energy saving and environmental safety. Gathering selected contributions to the XIV International Conference on Advanced Mechanical and Power Engineering (CAMPE 2021), held online on October 18-21, 2021, from Kharkiv, Ukraine, this book offers a timely update and extensive information for both researchers and professionals in the field of mechanical and power engineering.

This book, of a two book set, takes a look outside the box in many Biological subject areas. That is not to say that only 'outside the box' topics are addressed. The student will find that the understanding of other topics is strengthened by a more liberal approach, looking in greater detail than would generally be done in the normal text book. Furthermore, a 'step-by-step' approach has been adopted for many topics, where tricky concepts are built upon brick-by-brick. Needless to say, there are plenty of illustrations to help bring ideas across to the student. This two volume publication is mainly aimed at advance level Biology students, but there is much that can be read - and enjoyed - by students yet to prepare for their advanced studies. As with its sister publication, 'Easy as you Go', this publication is ideally suited to student, educator and parent alike because of its simplistic, down-to-earth approach, supported by a multitude of visual aids.
