This volume contains the proceedings of the tenth international conference on Representation Theory of Algebraic Groups and Quantum Groups, held August 2-6, 2010, at Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan. The survey articles and original papers contained in this volume offer a comprehensive view of current developments in the field. Among others reflecting recent trends, one central theme is research on representations in the affine case. In three articles, the authors study representations of W-algebras and affine Lie algebras at the critical level, and three other articles are related to crystals in the affine case, that is, Mirkovic-Vilonen polytopes for affine type $A$ and Kerov-Kirillov-Reshetikhin type bijection for affine type $E_6$. This book provides an introduction to the theory of quantum groups with emphasis on their duality and on the setting of operator algebras. Part I of the text presents the basic theory of Hopf algebras, Van Daele's duality theory of algebraic quantum groups, and Woronowicz's compact quantum groups, staying in a purely algebraic setting. Part II focuses on quantum groups in the setting of operator algebras. Woronowicz's compact quantum groups are treated in the setting of $C^*$-algebras, and the fundamental multiplicative unitaries of Baaj and Skandalis are studied in detail. An outline of Kustermans' and Vaes' comprehensive theory of locally compact quantum groups completes this part. Part III leads to selected topics, such as coactions, Baaj-Skandalis-duality, and approaches to quantum groupoids in the setting of operator algebras. Professor Xihua Cao (1920-2005) was a leading scholar at East China Normal University (ECNU) and a famous algebraist in China. His contribution to the Chinese academic circle is particularly the formation of a world-renowned 'ECNU School' in algebra, covering research areas include algebraic groups, quantum groups, algebraic geometry, Lie algebra, algebraic number theory, representation theory and other hot fields. In January 2020, in order to commemorate Professor Xihua Cao's centenary birthday, East China Normal University held a three-day academic conference. Scholars at home and abroad gave dedications or delivered lectures in the conference. This volume originates from the memorial conference, collecting the dedications of scholars, reminiscences of family members, and 16 academic articles written based on the lectures in the conference, covering a wide range of research hot topics in algebra.
