BOOK EXCERPT:
Maxine has been entertaining family and friends with her stories of life's events, wisdom she has gained over the years, and fantasies from a a creative imagination for eighty-five years. Her words weave a vivid picture that will capture your attention and make you want to abandon the hectic life today's society imposes on you for a simpler time, when folks took the time to stop and listen to the corn grow. Like a fine wine you need to savor each page taking the time to visualize the pictures, depicting a simple life, created by the words of an average woman. Each poem is a step in a journey rich with wisdom and emotions overflowing. The ideal place to read this book is sitting in the top of an apple tree in the summer sun but since most of us are a little too old or just too busy to take the time to climb a tree, I recommend you find a comfy place and settle in for a whirlwind journey ALONG LIFE'S BY-WAYS.

BOOK EXCERPT:
This poem book is very unique. The writer, Connie Coleman, is seventy years old and has been composing poems since age twelve. We have almost sixty years of poetry: that is sixty years with changes in life and thinking and, with this author, many changes of environments. Yes, this is a book to own and to read. It may help you or someone you know. Poetry has a reason. Some of the Bible is even poetic. Yes, this book is worth buying. What we have here is a gifted writer. A writer watched and often directed from above. That reason alone enables her poems to inspire!

BOOK EXCERPT:
To what extent and in what ways is metaphorical thought relevant to an understanding of culture and society? More specifically: can the cognitive linguistic view of metaphor simultaneously explain both universality and diversity in metaphorical thought? Cognitive linguists have done important work on universal aspects of metaphor, but they have paid much less attention to why metaphors vary both interculturally and intraculturally as extensively as they do. In this book, Zoltán Kövecses proposes a new theory of metaphor variation. First, he identifies the major dimension of metaphor variation, that is, those social and cultural boundaries that signal discontinuities in human experience. Second, he describes which components, or aspects of conceptual metaphor are involved in metaphor variation, and how they are involved. Third, he isolates the main causes of metaphor variation. Fourth Professor Kövecses addresses the issue to the degree of cultural coherence in the interplay among conceptual metaphors, embodiment, and causes of metaphor variation.

BOOK EXCERPT:
DescriptionComing soon About the AuthorI have been in receipt of trauma counselling since 1999 on a daily basis, at times speaking till the early hours of the morning.Support from my trauma Counsellor helps me to come to terms with accepting that what has happened to me cannot now be changed. I cannot ever forgive those who had a vicarious liability to look after me and failed. As a result of being locked away for some years all because we were poor has brought certain limitations to my day to day life. Writing is a form of therapy and allows me to be free to be the person that I want to be, and should have been my birthright. Through writing I can reach out to others who may have had such an unfortunate experience as myself . Daily flashbacks can be upsetting and I fill my life with things to do so as to block them out. Day to day life can be exhausting and coping mechanisms that I learnt in order to survive have not helped me in the outside world. God help all fellow survivors and perhaps one day Ireland will accept the terrible price we paid. Shame on all you right thinking residents in Ireland to allow the government and Catholic Church to ignore harm done to me and many others who are either dead or too ill to tell their story. Thanks to Chipmunkapublishing I have been able to confront my demons and a Big Thank you to Reatha my trauma counsellor without her I would not be here today writing about my stolen life.
