The inspiration is faith in the worth and sacredness of human life, in the joy of living, in civilization and progress, in God and the soul. There is here however nothing so formal or weighty as a system; but rather glances at many subjects, aspects of things as revealed in glimpses caught on occasion or by chance; and hence there is lack of orderly arrangement.
