This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of two International Workshops held as parallel events of the 15th IFIP WG 12.5 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Applications and Innovations, AIAI 2019, in Hersonissos, Crete, Greece, in May 2019: the 8th Mining Humanistic Data Workshop, MHDW 2019, and the 4th Workshop on 5G-Putting Intelligence to the Network Edge, 5G-PINE 2019. The 6 full papers and 4 short papers presented at MHDW 2019 were carefully reviewed and selected from 13 submissions; out of the 14 papers submitted to 5G-PINE 2019, 6 were accepted as full papers and 1 as short paper. The MHDW papers focus on the application of innovative as well as existing data matching, fusion and mining and knowledge discovery and management techniques (such as decision rules, decision trees, association rules, ontologies and alignments, clustering, filtering, learning, classifier systems, neural networks, support vector machines, preprocessing, post processing, feature selection, visualization techniques) to data derived from all areas of humanistic sciences, e.g., linguistic, historical, behavioral, psychological, artistic, musical, educational, social, and ubiquitous computing and bioinformatics. The papers presented at 5G-PINE focus on several innovative findings coming directly from modern European research in the area of modern 5G telecommunications infrastructures and related innovative services and cover a wide variety of technical and business aspects promoting options for growth and development.

The abundance of information and increase in computing power currently enable researchers to tackle highly complicated and challenging computational problems. Solutions to such problems are now feasible using advances and innovations from the area of Artificial Intelligence. The general focus of the AIAI conference is to provide insights on how Artificial Intelligence may be applied in real-world situations and serve the study, analysis and modeling of theoretical and practical issues. This volume contains papers selected for presentation at the 6th IFIP Conference on Artificial Intelligence Applications and Innovations (AIAI 2010) and held in Larnaca, Cyprus, during October 6–7, 2010. IFIP AIAI 2010 was co-organized by the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology and was sponsored by the Cyprus University of Technology, Frederick University and the Cyprus Tourism Organization. AIAI 2010 is the official conference of the WG12.5 “Artificial Intel- gence Applications” working group of IFIP TC12, the International Federation for Information Processing Technical Committee on Artificial Intelligence (AI). AIAI is a conference that grows in significance every year attracting researchers from different countries around the globe. It maintains high quality, standards and welcomes research papers describing technical advances and engineering and ind- trial applications of intelligent systems. AIAI 2010 was not confined to introducing how AI may be applied in real-life situations, but also included innovative methods, techniques, tools and ideas of AI expressed at the algorithmic or systemic level.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of six International Workshops held as parallel events of the 17th IFIP WG 12.5 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Applications and Innovations, AIAI 2021, virtually and in Hersonissos, Crete, Greece, in June 2021: the 6th Workshop on 5G-Putting Intelligence to the Network Edge, 5G-PINE 2021; Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering and Informatics Workshop, AI-BIO 2021; Workshop on Defense Applications of AI, DAAI 2021; Distributed AI for Resource-Constrained Platforms Workshop, DARE 2021; Energy Efficiency and Artificial Intelligence Workshop, EEAI 2021; and the 10th Mining Humanistic Data Workshop, MHDW 2021. The 24 full papers and 16 short papers presented at these workshops were carefully reviewed and selected from 72 submissions. The papers presented at 5G-PINE focus on the latest AI applications in the telecommunication industry and AI in modern 5G-oriented telecommunications infrastructures. The papers chosen for AI-BIO 2021 present research on the subject of AI, in its broadest sense, in biomedical engineering and health informatics. The DAAI 2021 papers aim at presenting recent evolutions in artificial intelligence applicable to defense and security applications. The papers selected for DARE 2021 address a variety of pertinent and challenging topics within the scope of distributed AI for resource-constrained platforms. The papers presented at EEAI 2021 aim to bring together interdisciplinary approaches that focus on the application of AI-driven solutions for increasing and improving energy efficiency of residential and tertiary buildings and of occupant behavior. The MHDW papers focus on topics such as recommendation systems, sentiment analysis, pattern recognition, data mining, and time series.

The 42 full papers and 12 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 88 submissions. The 35 full papers presented at these workshops were carefully reviewed and selected from 74 submissions.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of four International Workshops, held as parallel events of the 19th IFIP WG 12.5 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Applications and Innovations, AIAI 2023, held in León, Spain, during June 14–17, 2023: the 12th Workshop on Mining Humanistic Data (MHDW 2023); the 8th Workshop on “5G–Putting Intelligence to the Network Edge (5G-PINE 2023); the second Workshop on AI in Energy, Buildings and Micro-Grids Workshop (ΑΙBMG 2023); and the First Workshop on Visual Analytics Approaches for Complex Problems in Engineering and Biomedicine" (VAA-CP-EB 2023). This event was held in hybrid mode. The 37 regular papers presented at these workshops were carefully reviewed and selected from 86 submissions.

This book presents recent technologies that explore artificial intelligence (AI) and its scope in Internet of Things (IoT) enabled areas for productivity and the betterment of society.
