Buku ini disusun sebagai bagian dari upaya untuk mendukung peningkatan kompetensi berbahasa Inggris siswa sekolah dasar, dengan pendekatan tematik yang mudah dipahami dan menyenangkan. Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di tingkat sekolah dasar memegang peranan penting dalam membentuk dasar kemampuan berbahasa siswa di masa depan. Dengan mengintegrasikan berbagai tema yang dekat dengan kehidupan sehari-hari siswa, buku ini dirancang untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris mereka secara bertahap, mulai dari pemahaman dasar hingga aplikasi sederhana dalam komunikasi sehari-hari.

Buku Little Sunshine terlahir atas bentuk keprihatinan tim penulis akan kurangnya materi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris tingkat Sekolah Dasar (SD). Seperti yang telah diketahui bersama, kurikulum 2013 yang mengimplementasikan pembelajaran tematik terintegrasi, telah menempatkan bahasa Inggris sebagai ekstra kurikuler pilihan di SD (Kemendikbud, 2013). Sudah semestinya pembelajaran tersebut tidak hanya mengedepankan aspek kognitif saja karena harus mengaktifkan semua aspek termasuk afektif dan psikomotorik. Keterbatasan materi dan media pembelajaran seringkali menjadi alasan ketidaksuskesan pembelajaran bahasa ekstra kurikuler bahasa Inggris di sela implementasi pembelajaran tematik. Buku Little Sunshine ini berisi lagu-lagu anak Indonesia yang juga digunakan dalam tema pembelajaran tematik.Selain lagu, cerita yang ada dalam buku ini juga disarikan dari cerita dalam buku pembelajaran tematik. Dengan konsep dwibahasa, buku ini diharapkan dapat memfasilitasi siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris dengan menyenangkan dan masih berhubungan dengan pembelajaran tematik di kelas. Semoga hadirnya Little Sunshine - Bilingual Book dapat bermanfaat bagi ketersediaan materi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris bagi siswa-siswi SD.

This is an open access book. It has been two years since the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the world. This has more or less left a mark of memories and trauma for more or fewer people. This pandemic reminds people around the world that there are things that can happen without people knowing it. People start to worry and pessimistically see the uncertainty that lies in the future. To deal with this, a strategy is needed through educational innovation and social science to answer and face the challenges of uncertainty in the future. Breakthroughs in education and social science are the most strategic ways to build and enhance human capacity to solve problems, environmental and social problems. The spirit of innovation, rising from an economic downturn, the use of technology is obtained through the role of educational institutions. This can be interpreted that innovation in education and social science produces superior humans, who have good behavior, and wise humans. So that in the face of uncertainty in the post-pandemic period, humans have strategies and become more prepared. To find out more about strategies for dealing with and responding to future uncertainties after the pandemic through educational innovations and social science, it is necessary to conduct research or studies that discuss these matters and be published widely. To support this, Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta held an international conference and Call for Papers The 1st UPY International Conference on Education and Social Science (UPINCESS) “Strategies to Deal with Uncertainty through Education and Social Science Innovation” on June 15, 2022.

We are delighted to present the Proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Science and Technology Applications (ICoSTA-2022) that organized by Research and Community Service Centre of Universitas Negeri Medan (LPPM UNIMED). This conference has brought researchers, academicians and practitioners from the national and international institutions to discuss and sharing around the big theme which is “Innovation in Science and Technology for Sustainable Human Quality Development”. The ICoSTA2022 conference presents 4 distinguised keynote speakers with several expertation including of The Educational and Learning System, Prof. Dr. Syawal Gultom, M.Pd, Glass Technology and Materials Science, Prof. Dr. Jakrapong Kaewkhao, expert in the nuclear reactor technology there is Dr. Eng. Topan Setiadipura, S.Si., M.Si, M.Eng and expert in nanostructures for smart sensor devices held by Dr. Mati Horprathum from Thailand. In addition, presenters come from various Government and Private Universities, Institutions, Academy, and Schools. Some of them are researcher from The National Atomic Energy Agency, National Research and Innovation Agency, Institut Technology Bandung, Sriwijaya University, Indonesian Technology Institute, North Sumatera University, University of Surabaya, ITS, UGM, Udayana University, Brawijaya University, Jember University, UNRI, Nusa Cendana University, Widya Mandala Surabaya Catholic University, UPI, and several institutions. The additional information, there are 23 institutions including from national and international were interested and get involved in this conference. Besides that, there are 86 papers received by committee, some of which are presented orally in parallel sessions, and others are presented through abstract. The articles have been reviewed with double blind review before accepted and published by EAI publisher. Grateful thanks to Director and Vice Directors and especially for Rector of Unimed who always coordinate the organizing committee, and the team who keeps cooperating in running this conference. We strongly believe that the ICoSTA-2022 conference provides a good forum for all researcher, academician and practitioners to discuss all science and technology aspects that are relevant to sustainable human quality development. We also expect that the future ICoSTA conference will be as successful and stimulating, as indicated by the contributions presented in this volume.

This is an open access book. The COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years has influenced how educational system works. Online learning became the primal policy taken by all institutions in the world to lower the risk of the virus spread. Despite the drawbacks of the online learning, teachers and students were accustomed with the distant learning through web meetings, Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other online learning platforms. In that time, topics under digital learning and education 5.0 were the main stakes in academic disseminations. This year some institutions start to conduct their teaching and learning process classically as before the pandemic, others are still continuing online and not few are in hybrid. This leaves a question: what learning reform should be made in post-pandemic era? This conference invites researchers, experts, teachers and students to discuss the coping solutions of the question. It is important for them to contribute to the understanding of re-imaging online education for better futures, innovative learning design, new skills for living and working in new times, global challenge of education, learning and teaching with blended learning, flipped learning, integrating life skills for students in the curriculum, developing educators for the future distance learning, humanities learning in the digital era, assessment and measurement in education, challenges and transformations in education, technology in teaching and learning, new learning and teaching models.
