How do you read the Old Testament (and the New)? Are you looking earnestly for the culmination of all things in Christ, or are you using the Bible randomly as a book and guide for living "the good life now"? At the end of the Gospel of Luke, Christ Himself said to some puzzling followers: "O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?" (Luke 24:25-26). What follows then is the greatest Bible study ever to have happened to those who were listening to Jesus: "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." (v.27). This is a wonderful book on how to look for Christ especially in the Old Testament. Read it and then pass it along. Will you hear and respond? will you allow the reshaping of the things you have experienced in life and realize that nothing is wasted in the Kingdom of God when putting in in His hands. He will get the Glory through the scenes of a life story, though rough beginnings and thoughts of a tragic end you too will have a "Moses experience" that will be read by others.

This book, "Christ In all the Scriptures," was published in 1906 and is A.M Hodgkin's third edition now republished by Bierton Particular Baptists and no doubt written to counteract the Higher Criticism of biblical authorship, such as the Graf-Wellhausen hypothesis, of the 19 century now known as the Documentary Hypothesis that involves the J.E.D.P. notion which denies the Christian teaching of the inspiration of the scriptures and authorship of the books of Moses. There seem to be many people who cannot accept the book of Genesis as the first book of Moses and its reliable history. They also wish to deny the creation of the world in 6 days, the worldwide flood of Noah and destruction of the people of Sodom and Gomora for sodomy. It was Jesus who spoke to those disciples on the Emus road saying, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. The term in all the scripture refers to the five books of Moses, Prophets, and psalms. Namely, the scriptures of the old testament for it is written 2 Timothy 3:16-17 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. I present this book to my son Isaac John Clarke, who ought to know better and in the form of reproof as he is one such person and I am sure he is not the only wayward child. So this book "Christ In All the Scripture" is dedicated them all. This is my first response to those higher critics of the scripture, written out of concern for those adopting these erroneous views on this subject as it will lead to a wrong understanding of the person of the Lord Jesus Christ, the way of salvation, a rejection of gospel truth and errors in eschatology and lead them, like many to follow the broad road that leads to destruction.
