This report offers insights into the state of trust in Slovenian public institutions. It analyses data from the 2023 OECD Survey on Drivers of Trust in Public Institutions, comparing Slovenia's results with 29 other OECD countries. The study reveals both challenges and opportunities for reinforcing public trust in Slovenia, highlighting areas of strength in day-to-day interactions between people and public institutions whilst identifying concerns regarding decision-making processes on complex policy issues. Slovenia, like many nations, is grappling with the aftermath of natural disasters and global crises and is seeking to strengthen its democratic foundations. This report provides actionable insights for improving public governance, reinforcing democratic values, and building a more trusting relationship between citizens and public institutions. This comprehensive analysis offers a roadmap for policymakers, government officials, and civic leaders in Slovenia to enhance trust and, ultimately, strengthen the country's democratic processes and public governance.

Drivers of Trust in Public Institutions in Chile was undertaken as part of Chile’s State Modernisation Agenda 2022-2026. Based on results of the 2023 OECD Trust Survey and over fifty qualitative interviews with key national stakeholders, the study offers in-depth and comparative analysis of public trust and its driving factors. The report provides recommendations to further enhance trust, including improving the delivery and responsiveness of public services, promoting fairness across public institutions, and enhancing communication and engagement between the government and the population.

Governments and education policy makers are increasingly concerned with equity and inclusion in education due to several major global trends such as demographic shifts, migration and refugee crises, rising inequalities, and climate change. These developments have contributed to increasing diversity within national populations and flagged some concerns around the ability of education systems to be equitable and inclusive of all students.

The OECD’s Development Assistance Committee (DAC) conducts peer reviews of individual members once every five to six years. Reviews seek to improve the quality and effectiveness of members’ development co-operation, highlighting good practices and recommending improvements. Slovenia's official development assistance to Gross National Income ratio increased from 0.16% in 2017 to 0.19% in 2021, with a temporary uptick to 0.29% in 2022. This increase was mainly due to in-donor refugee costs related to Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. Slovenia punches above its weight as it influences decision-making in multilateral organisations in line with its priorities, notably on water and gender. Partners value its strong support to the Western Balkans, anchored in its European Union accession experience, as well as its support to demining efforts around the world. This peer review provides a set of recommendations to focus its approach, ensure cross-government co-ordination, match financial and human resources to ambitions, and build stronger relationships with partners.
