Building Up the Church: Live Experiments in Faith, Hope, and Love, the companion volume to Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove's book, New Monasticism: What It Has to Say to Today's Church (2008), is a practical study guide to invite the church to imagine that "another ways is possible" as it lives into its identity as "God's peculiar people" (Titus 2:14). Its stories, reflection questions, and suggested exercises are designed to catalyze local churches and Christian communities into becoming "laboratories for the gospel kingdom"--that is, communities that serve the living God and their neighbors by carrying out experiments in faith, hope, and love.

The rehabilitation, by St. Pope Paul VI, of African traditional religions and cultures has made them more objective for theological and anthropological reflection. And the reflecting subject is a native African himself. And the repatriation of missiology into ecclesiology in the Catholic Church in the 21st Century is a new development; and the result if it is what we have before us in this book. Here personal native anthropological and theological experience has combined with in-depth reading of the African novelists’ necessarily biased distillation of African culture has nourished thinking and reflection at a new level in terms of ecclesial implications of living Christianity authentically and being and building the Church in my father’s home.

The entire Bible reveals that God’s eternal purpose and the good pleasure of His will is to have the church. In order to carry out His purpose and pleasure, God made a plan, which centers around the mysterious, incomprehensible Christ who was incarnated as a man, crucified for our redemption, resurrected to be our life, and ascended to the heavens. Specifically, God’s plan is to impart, to dispense, this unsearchably rich Christ into His believers. In Enjoying the Riches of Christ for the Building Up of the Church as the Body of Christ, Witness Lee unveils how the church as the Body of Christ is produced by our enjoyment of the unsearchable riches of Christ through His word and by His Spirit. Such an enjoyment causes the believers to grow and be transformed into the precious materials for God’s building. As the believers come together in spirit and in oneness, the work of building is carried out for the glory of God and the defeat of His enemy.

This book considers the excelling gift for the building up of the church. This matter is spoken of by Paul in 1 Corinthians 14.

"Building Up One Another" focuses on significant actions that Christians are called to take toward one another to help build up the body of Christ. The author explores 12 specific "one another" Bible commands and gives practical steps for developing them. This new, updated version contains a personal and group study guide.

This book is intended as an aid to believers in developing a daily time of morning revival with the Lord in His word. At the same time, it provides a limited review of the International Training for Elders and Responsible Ones held in Toronto, Canada, on October 9-11, 2014. The general subject of the training was “The Vision, Practice, and Building Up of the Church as the Body of Christ” Through intimate contact with the Lord in His word, the believers can be constituted with life and truth and thereby equipped to prophesy in the meetings of the church unto the building up of the Body of Christ.

Throughout the centuries of church history the Lord has progressively carried out His work of recovery. In this book, Witness Lee shows that the Lord's present advance is to recover the priesthood of the gospel, the organic building up of the Body of Christ, the perfecting of the believers, and the speaking of God's word for the building of the Body of Christ. He concludes with help as to how we can practice these four matters.

In this issue we will continue four lines of ministry. The first line--The History of the Lord's Recovery--contains chapters 5 through 8 of The Advance of the Lord's Recovery Today, which are in volume 4 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1989. These chapters cover the perfecting of the saints by the gifts, prophesying for the building up of the church as the organic Body of Christ, and how to carry out the New Testament priesthood of the gospel according to the Lord's up-to-date recovery. The second line--Words for New Believers--contains chapters 25 and 26 of Crucial Truths in the Holy Scriptures, Volume 2, and chapters 27 and 28 of Crucial Truths in the Holy Scriptures, Volume 3, which are in volume 3 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1932–1949. These chapters cover topics related to being led by the Lord, doing the will of God, being filled with the Holy Spirit, and preaching the gospel. The third line--Maturing in Life--begins with chapters 1 through 4 of a new book, The Kingdom, which are in volume 2 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1972. These chapters speak of the kingdom in the New Testament, the coming of the kingdom and its process, God's goal being the kingdom, and the seed of the kingdom. The fourth line--The High Peak of the Divine Revelation--continues with chapters 18 through 21 of God's New Testament Economy, which are in volume 3 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1984. These chapters cover the Spirit of Christ, the anointing Spirit, and the seven Spirits.
