Business Process Transformation

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

This book presents a framework through transformation and explains how business goals can be translated into realistic plans that are tangible and yield real results in terms of the top line and the bottom line. Process Transformation is like a tangram puzzle, which has multiple solutions yet is essentially composed of seven ‘tans’ that hold it together. Based on practical experience and intensive research into existing material, ‘Process Tangram’ is a simple yet powerful framework that proposes Process Transformation as a program. The seven ‘tans’ are: the transformation program itself, triggers, goals, tools and techniques, culture, communication and success factors. With its segregation into tans and division into core elements, this framework makes it possible to use ‘pick and choose’ to quickly and easily map an organization’s specific requirements. Change management and process modeling are covered in detail. In addition, the book approaches managed services as a model of service delivery, which it explores as a case of process transformation. This book will appeal to anyone engaged in business process transformation, be it business process management professionals, change managers, sponsors, program managers or line managers. The book starts with the basics, making it suitable even for students who want to make a career in business process management.

Finally, it also includes international best practice case studies beyond the usual suspects. This book provides guidance and motivation for business executives, managers and students interested in innovating and transforming their businesses through the use of the two critical new technologies.

Holistic Business Model Transformation

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

This book describes the control loop-oriented change management process for implementing a digital business model via the holistic Organization 4.0 MITO configuration management. The content chapter structure of this MITO book with the description of the different transformation design views is based on the higher-level operational control loop principle within the MITO model segments shown in Figure 1. Whereby the management segment (M) is still subdivided on the default side into the process-related management segment and on the feedback side into the fact-related management segment. The MITO business model based on this supplements the 5 model segments with the downstream customer and upstream supplier segments and integrates the hierarchical process level model into the MITO model representation for the conception of the process-oriented target, management and control system. This book is a translation of the original German 1st edition Ganzheitliche Businessmodell-Transformation by Hartmut F. Binner, published by Springer Fachmedien Wiesbaden GmbH, part of Springer Nature in 2020. The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence (machine translation by the service DeepL.com). A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content, so that the book will read stylistically differently from a conventional translation. Springer Nature works continuously to further the development of tools for the production of books and on the related technologies to support the authors.

Managing Green Business Model Transformations

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Environmental sustainability creates both tremendous business opportunities and formidable threats to established companies across virtually all industry sectors. Yet many companies tackle the issue in a superficial or passive way, rather than considering fundamental changes to their existing business models. By ignoring the opportunities of Green Business Model Transformations, companies exclude themselves from a large variety of potential means to create economic value. In addition to ordinary product and process innovations, they can change “the rules of the game” within an industry towards environmental sustainability. Green Business Model Transformations, however, are challenging ventures: New, green business models with all their uncertainties and inherent complex systemic characteristics are difficult to design, assess, and implement successfully, particularly in the context of established companies that often entail complex structures and considerable inertia. As a result, there is a great need for guidance in management practice. This publication addresses this need with a general approach to Managing Green Business Model Transformations that is based on a broad theoretical foundation, illustrated by many real-world examples from various industry sectors.

Business Model Transformation And Innovation How New Technologies Influence Business Models

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Document from the year 2015 in the subject Business economics - General, grade: 1,3, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, language: English, abstract: This paper focuses on business models and how new technologies influence business models. By reviewing literature it can be realized that research regarding business models and new technologies considers two different areas: One area is the capture of value from new technological innovations. A new product development should be linked to the development of a respective business model by defining value strategies for the new development. A new technological development does not automatically mean business success. Hence, a business model design for the new development is a key element in order to create value out of the new development. The other research area – and this is the focus of this paper - looks at how new technologies influence business models. After a short introduction a practical example will be given of how a cooperation adapted its business model due to digitalization.

Theory And Practice Of Model Transformations

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Model transformations are the glue that tie modelling activities together. If you’ve used modelling in anger then, whether you know it or not, you’ve used model transformations. They come in all shapes and sizes from moving models between di?erent tools to generating implementations. Model transformations have humble beginnings—at one point, not long ago, it was said by many ‘in the know’ that the way forward in model transformations was to use XSLT. That this idea now raises a wry smile shows how far the model transformation community has come in a short time. Where once model transformations were hacked together in a variety of unsuitable languages, we now have a number of powerful, dedicated languages and theories at our disposal. Since 2008, the ICMT conference series has played a huge part in advancing the subject, and this third edition was no di?erent. The theories and languages presented at ICMT have allowed principled model transformations to play an ever greater part in real systems. Of course there is still much more to do: we need our model transformations, languages, and theories to scale further, allow greater expressivity, be more ?exible, and aid reusability; and we lack empirically backed studies of model transformations in use. Doubtless you can think of other gaps. Yet, though some real-world challenges lie just beyond our reach,eachyearseesonce-dauntingproblemsconquered.Muchofthatprogressis nowdriven byICMT, andthis year’sedition showedhow model transformations are increasingly being used in previously unfamiliar areas.
