Settled in 1688 by the Evans family, Mount Laurel originally contained small hamlets like Hartford, Masonville, Fellowship, and Springville. During the 19th century, African Americans established the enclaves of Colemantown, Little Texas, and Petersburg, which served as stops along the Underground Railroad. An abolitionist named Dr. William Still, known as the "black doctor of the pines," is buried in the Colemantown Cemetery. Situated east of the Delaware River in scenic Burlington County, Mount Laurel's farmers regularly trucked their produce to the Campbell's Soup Company and shipped their produce to market either by steamboat on the Rancocas Creek or by the Camden & Burlington County Railroad. Through photographs that illustrate the transformation of the area's historical roadways into highways and the residential development of its long-standing farms and peach and apple orchards, Mount Laurel showcases the rich agricultural and cultural heritage of this Burlington County community.

Having read books all my life this is my first attempt at writing. I turned 80 just before I began thinking about and writing this story. Therefore I have a lot of life experiences and knowledge to use in crafting tales. I have always been interested in Science Fiction novels especially space warfare and historical fiction of exploration and warfare. This book is a combination of Science Fiction and American Indian (Cherokee) life. It is about a Cherokee village that was raided early one morning by Iroquois Indians from the north seeking female slaves and for young warriors to experience fighting.

This "brief history" presents the essential story of the subordination of African Americans in the U.S., captured in a 1968 cartoon by Pulitzer-prize-winning cartoonist John Fischetti. The drawing is of a black man handcuffed to a wall with cuffs labeled "White Racism." The caption reads, "Why don’t they lift themselves up by their own bootstraps like we did?" Bootstraps shows just how little lift-up there has been, and how the handcuffs of white racism have been and continue to be the cause.
