This book presents to the reader the revealed insight and experienced understanding brought to light in response to questions asked of Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar over the years. At times the questions express doubts of the questioner, at other times it is their thirst for knowledge. This volume is like a deep well; one can draw water from its surface and quench one’s thirst, or one can, with effort, break the surface of the water and plunge into its depth where the cool waters are fed from an inexhaustible stream of distilled knowledge that can come only from one who has totally immersed himself in the ocean of wisdom.

Volume 11 brings together all of Dewey's writings for 1918 and 1919. A Modern Language Association Committee on Scholarly Editions textual edition. Dewey's dominant theme in these pages is war and its after-math. In the Introduction, Oscar and Lilian Handlin discuss his philosophy within the historical context: The First World War slowly ground to its costly conclusion; and the immensely more difficult task of making peace got painfully under way. The armi-stice that some expected would permit a return to normalcy opened instead upon a period of turbulence that agitated fur-ther a society already unsettled by preparations for battle and by debilitating conflict overseas. After spending the first half of 1918-19 on sabbatical from Columbia at the University of California, Dewey traveled to Japan and China, where he lectured, toured, and assessed in his essays the relationship between the two nations. From Peking he reported the student revolt known as the May Fourth Move-ment. The forty items in this volume also include an analysis of Thomas Hobbe's philosophy; an affectionate commemorative tribute to Theodore Roosevelt, our Teddy; the syllabus for Dewey's lectures at the Imperial University in Tokyo, which were later revised and published as Reconstruction in Philosophy; an exchange with former disciple Randolph Bourne about F. Mat-thias Alexander's Man's Supreme Inheritance; and, central to Dew-ey's creed, Philosophy and Democracy. His involvement in a study of the Polish-American community in Philadelphia--resulting in an article, two memoranda, and a lengthy report--is discussed in detail in the Introduction and in the Note on the Confidential Report ofConditions among the Poles in the United States.

The Path of the Rishi is one of the first and most detailed books published in the West on the ancient Vedic origins of Yoga, including all aspects of its philosophy and practice. The book reveals secrets of the Vedic Yoga from the teachings of Sri Aurobindo, Ganapati Muni, Brahmarshi Daivarat, and Swami Veda Bharati as well as Vamadevas own insights. It challenges popular ideas of the meaning of Yoga and brings Yoga back to the vision of the ancient Himalayan Rights.

In the fourth part of a lecture series he delivered in 1904-05, and in two later research manuscripts, Kortooms (U. of Nijmegan, the Netherlands) finds stages of the development of Czech-born German philosopher Husserl's (1859-1938) thinking about time-consciousness. He considers the context and the first analysis in the lecture series and its developments in the years following, three models and genetic phenomenology in the L-manuscripts, and the last analysis in the C- manuscripts. Edmund Husserl occupied himself with the analysis of time-consciousness throughout his life. In this book, the three stages that may be distinguished in Husserl's occupation with this theme are discussed in their interrelationship. The first stage consists of a lecture manuscript from 1905; the second stage consists of the so-called Bernau manuscripts, research manuscripts that were written in 1917 and 1918; and the final stage consists of the so-called C-manuscripts, research manuscripts that were written in the late 1920s and the early 1930s. Central themes in the discussion of Husserl's phenomenology of time in this book are: the connection between the analysis of time-consciousness and the analysis of phantasy-consciousness and image-consciousness; Husserl's position in the debate between A. Meinong and W. Stern concerning the possibility of the perception of time; the self-constitution of absolute time-consciousness; the influence of Husserl's development of genetic phenomenology on his analysis of time-consciousness; and the question of the intentional character of time-consciousness.
