This guide is designed for early childhood educators who are helping their staffs implement the Creative Curriculum for Early Childhood, a curriculum that is based on child development theory and is developmentally appropriate for preschool and kindergarten children. A carefully organized and rich environment serves as the focus of this curriculum. Part 1 of the guide contains three sections discussing respectively: (1) reasons for introducing the new curriculum; (2) support and encouragement of staff development during curriculum implementation; and (3) the use of classroom visits by supervisors as a way to provide technical assistance to staff and to fine-tune the program. Part 2 offers workshop outlines and handouts for conducting staff development sessions. This part contains 12 sections, the first of which suggests workshop strategies for trainers while the second outlines a workshop that provides staff with an understanding and appreciation of the curriculum's child development focus. The following 10 sections each describe workshops devoted to a particular topic: (1) blocks; (2) house corner (dramatic play); (3) table toys; (4) art; (5) sand and water; (6) the library; (7) music and movement; (8) cooking; (9) computers; and (10) the outdoors. Each workshop emphasizes the value of its topic area to child development through exercises, activities, discussions, and handouts. Two appendices provide a copy of the Creative Curriculum Self-Assessment and Observation Form, and staff development forms. (TJQ)

The Oxford Handbook of Education and Training in Professional Psychology provides the first comprehensive treatment of the processes and current state-of-the art practices bearing on educating and training professional psychologists. Thousands of psychologists are employed full-time as faculty members or clinical supervisors in graduate, practicum, internship, and postdoctoral training programs or training sites. This handbook provides a single resource that pulls together the substantial scholarship on education and training in psychology, covering the full spectrum of historic developments, salient issues, current standards, and emerging trends in psychology education and training. It provides a thorough analysis of doctoral and postdoctoral training for psychologists in clinical, counseling, or school psychology specialties. Because competency issues are moving to the forefront in the design of training programs and the evaluation of trainee performance, the handbook's authors have made models and standards for competency a primary theme. This volume captures the current state of education and training while emphasizing emerging trends and forecasting future directions.

The effectiveness of CBT depends on the quality of the supervision and training that is provided to its practitioners. A Manual for Evidence-Based CBT Supervision is intended to significantly strengthen the available resources for training and supporting CBT supervisors. The authors drew on the insights of many accredited CBT supervisors to develop the guidance, and the work is built firmly on an evidence-based approach. This manual will also be useful for individual supervisors and to those who support and guide trainers and supervisors (e.g., peer groups, consultants, managers, administrators, training directors), as the authors include training supervision guidelines and training materials (e.g., video clips, guidelines and PowerPoint slides). In summary, this manual provides critical guidance in a number of areas: Training resources and evidence based guidance to individual supervisors in a continuing education/professional development workshop format Criteria and guidance (including measurement tools and competence standards) to support the certification of supervisors Assisting in a “train the trainers” approach suitable for agency or organization-based training of supervisors Coaching and training supervisors and supervisees remotely, through supplementary materials and an interactive website

Agreed standards and guidelines are the heart and soul of improving the differing training systems and to harmonize neurosurgical training in the European countries. Such standards and guidelines have been laid down in the European Training Charter of the European Union of Medical Specialists and recently novellated. This book, written by experienced neurosurgeons, offers all those concerned with neurosurgical training - trainers and trainees - practical advice to implement the above mentioned standards and recommendations. It has been written as a manual: "How to do it”. It describes the tasks of a chairman (programme director), the tasks of the teaching staff, the organisation of a training curriculum, a rotation plan or a morbidity and mortality conference, the periodic progress evaluation, the course of an external audit and many more important topics. It contains a lot of practical tips, check lists and useful examples. Well educated young colleagues offer "safe neurosurgery” to our patients.
