The Poems of Robert Browning is a multi-volume edition of the poetry of Robert Browning (1812 -1889) resulting from a completely fresh appraisal of the canon, text and context of his work. The poems are presented in the order of their composition and in the text in which they were first published, giving a unique insight into the origins and development of Browning's art. Annotations and headnotes, in keeping with the traditions of Longman Annotated English Poets, are full and informative and provide details of composition, publication, sources and contemporary reception. Volumes one (1826-1840) and two (1841-1846) presented the poems from his Browning's early years, while volume three (1847-61) covered the period of his marriage to Elizabeth Barrett and residence in Italy. Volume four (1862-71) deals with the decade following Elizabeth's death and Browning's return to England. These years saw the appearance of some of his most significant work, and a steady rise in his critical reputation. In Dramatis Personae (1864), Browning uses his characteristic "dramatic" mode to expose predicaments of thought and feeling, in characters ranging from Shakespeare's Caliban to the cheating medium, "Mr Sludge"; other poems dramatize Browning's complicated feelings about the deceptions and self-deceptions of romantic love. Spring Shoots introduces individually the early work of two score young Belarusian poets, all of whom began writing after the start of the present regime. This is the first such survey in any language, including Belarusian. All poetic illustrations are cited in the original and accompanied by English prose translations. The poets’ work is presented in eight loosely thematic groups: the historical heritage, religion, protest at alienation and repression, use and defence of the language, the lyrical impulse, humour, performance poetry and the theme of writing itself and poetic inspiration. Also very important in these poems are the joys and tribulations of love. By using the Belarusian language, the poets are helping to save it from decades of erosion and official devaluation, so that their discussion of it is often poignant, particularly as language is a central part of the also suppressed historical heritage. Other types of verse such as humorous, lyrical or that for performance, are less central to the Belarusian situation, but the angry and bitter protest poems serve as perhaps a release valve, as small editions of poems are far less conspicuous than the expression of such feelings on the street, which always meets bitter reprisals.

"Thomas Wingfold, Curate or The Curate's Awakening" is the first novel of the series that begins with the story of a compliant and lifeless curate in the Church of England and the profound changes that happen in his life and the people around him. Thomas Wingfold is a clergyman who is losing belief in the faith, but he goes through many transformations as the story unfolds. "Paul Faber, Surgeon or The Lady's Confession" is the sequel to The Curate's Awakening and it tells the story of a village doctor and a proven atheist. His friend and village curate, Thomas Wingfold is trying to bring him closer to the Church, but constantly ends up failing in those attempts. Doctor believes that only victories and tragedies of life can bring one to Jesus. However, after one accident, Faber saves life of a beautiful woman and they fall in love, but her secret past comes in between. "There and Back or The Baron's Apprenticeship" is the third and final novel that completes the series. Another story about finding faith in God follows a life-changing journey of Baron Richard from skeptical atheist to a true believer. The main character sets quite an example of manhood for young people. George MacDonald (1824-1905) was a Scottish author, poet, and Christian minister. He was a pioneering figure in the field of fantasy literature and the mentor of fellow writer Lewis Carroll. His writings have been cited as a major literary influence by many notable authors including W. H. Auden, C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Walter de la Mare, E. Nesbit and Madeleine L'Engle.

The multi-faceted nature of dissenting verse is demonstrated, from the sonnets of the Quaker Martin Mason to the self-consciously 'witty' acrostic used to commemorate the Fifth Monarchist Vavasor Powell's death, to the Quaker schismatic John Perrot's 'A sea of the seed's sufferings'.

This three-part book is birthed out of different experiences in my life over a number of years. Part I, Confessions of My Life, is a collection of fifteen poems. Part II, Sharing My Thoughts, is a collection of thoughts that the Lord used to personally deliver me during a traumatic situation. Part III, Self-Actualize, is an acronym with bible verses and my thoughts added. From My Heart, placed at the beginning of each section, tells the interesting way in which the Lord inspired me to put all this together.
