Interview with the Author Q - What makes the Zombies are Human series special? An epidemic ravaging the human population. A world spiraling into chaos. People doing whatever it takes to survive. I wanted to write something I would love to read. I've always been drawn to the post-apocalyptic genre and thought about end-of-the-world books I've loved--Stephen King's The Stand, Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower. But also recent stories like The Girl With All the Gifts, The Passage, and even Stranger Things. I've always found stories with big epidemics/events that reinvent the world so thrilling. I also love getting into some of the science, like the genetic engineering, that would make the situations plausible. Zombies are Human gives you some of that classic Walking Dead zombie fare, but...without giving too much away...I guarantee you've never read a zombie series like Zombies are Human before. Even though my cast of characters are teenagers I've definitely had plenty of adults write me about how much they've enjoyed the series. I think Zombies are Human hits the sweet spot of older Young Adult that will appeal to plenty of adults too. No matter what your age, the Zombies are Human series is designed to keep you furiously turning those pages. Q - What order should I read the books in? I think the complete series would be most enjoyable in the following sequence: --Germination (prequel short novel) --Contamination --Infestation --Eradication Q - Why should readers give these books a try? The prequel hit #5 on the New York Times and #8 on the USA Today bestseller lists. I've gotten tons of emails from readers letting me know how much they loved Zombies are Human (stay-up-all-night-even-with-work-the-next-day love). But more than that, as a reader myself, I am always looking for the next Stranger Things, The Passage, The Girl With All The Gifts. THAT'S the kind of story I hope you'll find in Zombies are Human. Smart. Dangerous. Gritty. With rip-your-heart-out intensity (literally and figuratively in some cases). Zombies are Human is a fast, dark apocalyptic ride. Just remember...nothing is what it seems. The Earth Writes

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

This book extensively analyzes the literary works of fiction that draw on the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami that occurred on March 11, 2011. This disaster inspired literally hundreds of fictional works in Japan from the time of the events through 2017. This response represents a unique and perhaps unprecedented cultural phenomenon in the world. Since a variety of writers in different genres, and even amateurs, have written and published books inspired by their experiences of the disaster, it is extremely difficult to cover the entire body of Japanese “post-3.11 literature”. Because of the breadth of this literary response, there is a scarcity of research on the subject available. This book offers the first comprehensive review of Japan’s recent post-disaster literary production to the English audience.

BOOK EXCERPT:

In a world ravaged by nuclear war, Kendra navigates the harsh reality of life under the rule of alien overlords. But things take a dangerous turn when she is kidnapped by a tribe of underground survivors who want to extract information about a long-lost cure. With the help of her secret scientist aunt and her lover Rex, Kendra must fight to survive in a world overrun by zombies and governed by a race that sees humans as nothing more than a tasty delicacy. Join Kendra on a journey of love, danger, and discovery in the first installment of this thrilling dystopian series. Here is a review that won the novel an award from Reader's Favorite! Reviewed by K.C. Finn Where Zombies Walk is a work of fiction in the dystopian science fiction, action, and adventure subgenre, and forms the first novel of the Kendra's Journey book series. The work is intended for mature adult audiences owing to scenes of graphic violence, sexual content, and explicit language throughout. Penned by author Eileen Sheehan, we enter a dystopian world reeling from the aftermath of a nuclear war and the dominion of an alien government. The story revolves around Kendra and her family, who were unwittingly involved in the creation of a zombie virus that was intended to subdue Russia but spiraled out of control due to an unforeseen alien invasion. Kendra's aunt is one of the scientists behind the virus, harboring a dangerous secret that could change everything. Author Eileen Sheehan has crafted a story that keeps readers on the edge of their seats while also delving into the complexities of human relationships and the resilience of the human spirit. There’s a seamless interweaving of different elements of dystopian fiction, science fiction, and romance in a cinematic narrative filled with action, peril, and suspense, making for a fully emotive and immersive experience. The dynamic between Kendra and Rex, her lover, adds an emotional core to the story, and their journey through this dangerous world is both thrilling and emotionally charged. As Kendra navigates a world overrun by zombies and an alien regime with sinister intentions, we also explore themes of survival, identity, and the consequences of human experimentation that run very psychologically deep. Overall, Where Zombies Walk is a highly recommended dystopian read that sets the stage for an intriguing series, and I look forward to the next installment.

Interdisciplinary Essays On Environment And Culture

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

This is a collection of essays about the media, the environment, and the whole of humanity at the brink of extinction. As the demands of overpopulation and of an unsustainable consumer economy dry up existing natural resources and destroy vital ecosystems that we need to survive, the corporate-controlled media saturate worldwide audiences with a barrage of hypnotic images and narratives to stimulate over-consumption and to distract us from the consequences of rampant consumerism, while remaining silent about the systematic destruction of the environment and our future. Academicians from the across the sciences, the social sciences, the arts, and the humanities engage in an interdisciplinary discussion informed by a vision of an interconnected humanity and focused on the role of the media in forging public discourse. Contributors to the collection argue that today’s media are failing humanity. Rather than providing pictures of reality on which the world’s citizens can act, the corporate-controlled media are widely used as instruments of commercial and political propaganda, creating an immense web of images and narratives that their creators know to be not true–-fabrications designed to sell, to manipulate, in a sense to enslave worldwide audiences. At the core of the discussion in this book is a utopian vision of one unified humanity—billions of people whose destinies and dreams are imbricated and interdependent, and who share the same world, the same habitats. It is a vision of a world that cherishes diversity but is also united—a world where our differences are no longer a cause for conflict and where separate countries or separate ethnic or religious communities no longer have to compete or wage war to exploit available resources. As extensions of humans, the media can be instruments of salvation instead of destruction, liberation instead of oppression. But first, we must recognize the challenges we face.

Christian Satanic Books 1 5

BOOK EXCERPT:

What is Christian Satanism? It is a gray sided belief. It isn’t a thing of heroes and villains but for those who more naturally fit in between. Gray sided things are so uncommon that there are very few terms to be found for them. There are words for heroes and villains but not any one who would be in between those. Gray magic is seldom discussed. There is heaven and hell- but for us there is earth. Christian Satanism is here to establish the first gray sided people, The Christian Satanist.

Faith And The Zombie

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Themes of faith and religion have been threaded through popular representations of the zombie so often that they now seem inextricably linked. Whether as mindless servants to a Vodou Bokor or as evidence of the impending apocalypse, the ravenous undead have long captured something of society's relationships with spirituality, religion and belief. By the start of the 21st century, religious beliefs are as varied as the many manifestations of the zombie itself, and both themes intersect with various ideological, environmental and even post-human concerns. This book surveys the various modern religious associations in zombie media. Some characters believe that the undead are part of God's plan, others theorize that the environment might be saving itself or that zombies might be predicting life and hybridity beyond human existence. Timely and important, this work is a meditation on how faith might not just be a forerunner to the apocalypse, but the catalyst to new kinds of life beyond it.
