BOOK EXCERPT:
The end of ourselves is a lonely place to be, but it is often where miracles take place. Counterfeit Peace is a story of redemption. Ryan Duerk details the story of his life from childhood, into the ravages of addiction, and ultimately through the front doors of a rescue mission. He describes in intense detail what can happen to a life with no direction. The memoir begins with a brief reflection on the psychological depths and despair of addiction and then moves into a personal account of how his descent into darkness was fueled by trauma, lack of identity, pain, and the endless pursuit of peace by any means necessary. The book attempts to answer the question, “Why do addicts do what they do?” Although painful to read at times, Counterfeit Peace candidly exposes the raw reality of dependence and brokenness. Left with nothing but the air in his lungs, Ryan reaches out for help and finds himself checking into a rescue mission operated by Miracle Hill Ministries in South Carolina. With the nonjudgemental love of a community of believers, Ryan begins the arduous journey toward recovery. He chronicles his “crash course with the Creator” and unpacks the truths he uncovered along the way. Through the boundless grace of God, Ryan responds to a call to ministry and eventually begins helping others just like himself. Through emotional storytelling and profound introspection, Ryan offers a beacon of hope to those grappling with addiction and paints an intimate portrait of what crisis ministry is at Miracle Hill.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Peace has reigned through the lands after the fall of the Horde and its leaders the Lich King and Lord Lazarus. The Humans have separated, mainly into the Alliance, composed of four kingdoms, and the Tudorian Empire. The Elves have rebuilt within their own lands as the Kingdom of Aurelias. The uneasy peace for over a century is starting to falter as the Tudorian Empire begins to expand East, to lands that cross through two Kingdoms of the Alliance. Gunther, the Lord Commander of the Tudorian Empire's army is brutal and has the skillsets to fight any who oppose him. To make matter worse, while the Call of the Krakenos has disappeared from the lands, it's aphrodisiac effects linger in the descendants of some. One such person is the sister of a Commander within the Alliance, and her inner, everlonging lust for the embrace of the Horde is starting to cause turmoil. Away from this rising chaos, Aewyn begins to think of a future for the Elves that will keep them away from the stupidity of Humanity. Her sister, Leila, is not in agreement. She believes that Humans can be great allies over time, while Aewyn believes they will eventually destroy one another and the entire earth that they live on. When Gunther makes his way into the lands in the East, he runs into the Alliance and soon, the false peace begins to fall...

BOOK EXCERPT:
In the beginning, marriage doesn't seem as though it should be all that difficult. But it doesn't take long for trouble to seep in and for bad habits to become entrenched. Before long, many married couples may be wondering when the "worse" part ends and the "better" part starts. Pastor and author Kevin A. Thompson has good news for couples: the "better" part is always within reach when they practice eight specific commitments to each other. These commitments have the power to solve almost any problem a marriage faces, and to prevent new ones from occurring. With biblical insights and engaging personal stories, Thompson shows couples how to see their marriage as bigger than themselves, avoid both apathy and aggression, release the desire for power, make and maintain peace, endure difficult times, and more. Perfect for newlyweds and for married couples at any stage of life, Happily is the gateway to a more loving, more joy-filled marriage.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Earthquakes rip through the world as the Creator approaches, the stars fall, the sun goes dark, and the moon proclaims death. Jesus comes and His powerful presence causes the atmosphere to split and roll away. Revelation 6 shows people wailing for the mountains to bury them: “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: for the great day of His wrath is come; and who will be able to stand?” And who does stand in that day? No one. Not a single soul. It's the total annihilation of a vile, self-righteous human race. God's followers expected all of this to happen on October 22, 1844. They watched and waited, but Jesus didn't return. This was only a warning preview of His return in the sixth seal. In God's mercy, He commands to delay the cataclysm of judgment day so that He can send to the world the needed preparation for the day of wrath. That needed preparation comes with the seven trumpets of the seventh seal that occur after 1844. The postponed destruction seen in the sixth seal will yet be a future reality. The Seven Trumpets and the Investigative Judgment examines chapters 4–11 in the book of Revelation and studies how recent events since 9/11 have almost completed God's gracious delay. This book presents a new view of Revelation that meets the biblical rules of prophetic interpretation and of the inspired “testimony of Jesus,” which is “the spirit of prophecy” (Rev. 19:10). How have we done in this waiting period? Will we stand when Jesus returns? By God's grace this book will help you prepare for that great day.
