BOOK EXCERPT:
A philosopher and a business leader have a friendly debate about whether it makes sense to speak of God having a strategy for the human race. What might a divine strategy look like, in light of the biblical portrait of God and the historical record of religions that claim to carry out God's strategy? With so much violence in our religious history, can there be a divine strategy of peace rather than war--where our religions do not strategize to defeat their enemies but to bless them? In other words, could God have a strategy that overcomes rather than continues the legacy of Cain and Abel? If so, to what future might it point us?

BOOK EXCERPT:
God has good thoughts and plans for each one of us. If we will trust Him completely, He will lead us to everything good. There will come times when we must walk through difficulties, but if we trust God, we will always end up with the blessings of God. Our real trouble comes when we go our own way and follow a plan of our own choosing rather than the plan that God has set forth for us. The knowledge of The Goodness of God that you will find described in this book will cause your thinking to change so that you will make better decisions. “This book is a must-read for anyone wanting to see God move in his life, family, and ministry. I can testify of great changes in my thinking by hearing these principles taught for five years at Words of Life Church from the pulpit by Pastor David Hope. I believe this book will give you the insight to what God wants for your life. That is The Goodness of God.” —Dr. David Yanez, Director, RevMedia Network, RevMedia Publishing, and David Yanez Ministries, Kingwood, Texas

BOOK EXCERPT:
"Forster and Marston have delivered a stellar book that attempts to present an exegetical and Scriptural framework for the content presented in the book. Instead of beginning from a set of deductive theological assumptions and then attempting to support that system from Scripture, Forster and Marston examine Scripture and attempt to build their case directly from the text. The authors unabashedly admit that their views are very similar to those of Arminian and Weslyan traditions, but they state in the beginning of the book that they do not want to be labeled with these names, but want to construct a theology that is in line with the teachings of the first 300 years of Christianity. Anyone who reads their appendix will come to understand that the teachings presented in this book were the orthodox consensus of the early Church for the first 300 years, and that it was Augustine who introduced serious deviations into the mainstream orthodox Christianity of his time. Forster and Marston begin by describing the battle that is being waged between God and the spiritual forces that oppose Him. They examine the book of Job and see how this relates to the overall struggle. Then the authors examine the 9th chapter of Romans to see if this book is dealing with election and individual destinies, or God's actions within human history. The authors do an excellent job of arguing for their opinion that this chapter is speaking about God's involvement in human history and it deals with God's choosing of one nation or individual over another nation or individual to accomplish His purpose. Other sections of interest in this book are the sections on foreknowledge and predestination and the chapters on faith and works. The section on faith and works was particularly interesting because it relies on much of the teaching of the new perspective which has shed much light on how a 1st century Palestinian Jew would have approached Scriptural issues. The research, argumenation, and exegesis in this book are solid so every chapter is excellent, but the ones mentioned above were two of my favorites."--Amazon.com.

BOOK EXCERPT:
This book is intended to contribute model bases on a faith-inspired, biblically based perspective that is consistent with the needs of strategicorganizational leadership. We address the spiritual leadership and spirituality at work literature from a Christian perspective. We argue that it is critical for organizations to reconcile workplace spirituality with strategic thinking and business operations because religious identity is still very important in the United States, and we present a model to accomplish this reconciliation. While we are not theologians, in presenting our model we do engage in the theological discussion of the relationship between man and God particularly in the context of business. While we review the evolution of the spiritual leadership and spirituality at work literature along with the limited literature that examines these concepts from a Christian perspective, we identify significant obstacles that have thus far kept these concepts on the fringes of general management thinking and practices. After identifying the challenges associated with a Christian approach to the spirituality literature, we offer a model with four principles for Strategic Spirituality based on a Christian perspective of biblical interpretations that also offer the requisite pragmatism for strategic thinking and organizational implementation. The four principles include: 1. Subsidiarity with Solidarity – Subsidiarity is a principle of decentralization coming for the Catholic social tradition whereby decision-making done at the organizational level with the greatest familiarity and the individual empowerment and is moderated by solidarity or a unity of common mission. 2. Stewardship – requires resources and opportunities be dutifully managed in order to promote sustainability and social well-being. 3. Support and Empowerment – relates to the creation of an organization with Christian principles where Christian and Non-Christians are supported and empowered for individual growth and organizational success. 4. Synergy – allows organizations to remain focused on their ideals but flexible in their implementation.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Why Plan Strategy? Is church growth theory incompatible with belief in the sovereignty of God? Does adherence to church growth principles leave out dependency upon the work of the Holy Spirit? C. Peter Wagner answers no to both questions. He further believes that no task could be more crucial than fulfilling the Great Commission in our generation, and how to approach and plan for the execution of this task is the questions of the day. Strategies for Church Growth addresses this key issue in a biblically pragmatic way. It brings together for the first time many principles of evangelism and missions which have proved, through recent research and experience, to be effective in implementing the Great Commission. It also unifies, in concise form, the latest research of the Church Growth Movement, the Lausanne Committee on World Evangelization, the U.S. Center for World Mission and numerous other key contributors to the recent explosion of evangelistic technology. Among the topics explored are: - the major components of strategy - choosing the appropriate strategy - advantages of having a strategy - the theology of church growth - the harvest principle and soil testing - why you should aim for church growth - characteristics of good goals - the meaning of mission and evangelism - how to target your outreach

BOOK EXCERPT:
Students in America will spend over 14,000 seat hours in a classroom before they graduate from high school. On the other hand, most Christian children spend less than an hour a day in meaningful interaction with their parents, and only a few hours a week (at most) in church. Is it reasonable for us to assume that the Christian instruction they receive during off-hours will outweigh the thousands of hours of anti-Christian perspectives they are bombarded with by the media and the public school system? What does God say about how He expects Christians to educate their children? This book will radically challenge your paradigms and biases, but will consistently point you to the Word of God as the final answer for all of life, including education. Great resource for pastors, parents, and grandparents to understand the role of education in a Christian family. Aligns with the core philosophy of Master Books Curriculum and can be used as an apologetic for Christian education.
