This early works is a comprehensive and informative look at the subject containing I. - The Diary of Master Thomas Dallam, 1599 - 1600 and, II. - Extracts from the Diaries of Dr. John Covel, 1670 - 1679, with some account of the Levant Company of Turkey Merchants. The two manuscripts diaries which are published in this volume give us the experiences of men who resided in Constantinople during the earlier days of the Levant Company.....Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900's and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive.
