In 2020, EDUCCON helded as a virtual conference with the theme Empowering Teaching. EDUCCON 2020 to energize and inspire the scientists and teachers whose job is to teach in new-normal. In the digital age, in terms of empowering teaching, it is aimed to address the points of discovery for success in teaching, evidence-based teaching, higher education and education in a life called “new normal” after COVID 19. Teaching in the digital age focuses on leading pedagogy and identifying educational technology tools that will help students achieve learning outcomes. The presence of teachers and humanization of the learning experience in distance and online learning environments will be included. In evidence-based education; the focus is on teaching and learning literature to explore the theory and practical applications of teaching strategies in courses. Presentations of studies that can demonstrate the development of a teaching philosophy and then how to apply evidence-based teaching in lessons will be presented. Conscious design of course content and evaluation is at the top of everything in higher education. The foundations of university education include the work for teaching staff at the center of higher education who have not received teacher training. It consists of studies about who the students are and how to help them be successful in the lessons. In addition, EDUCCON 2020 aims to discuss the basic elements for successful education a life called “new normal” after COVID 19 and to present studies that empower learning. The EDUCCON 2020 conference program consists of paper presentations and training sessions.

The year 2020 brought an unprecedented worldwide health crisis through the COVID-19 pandemic that has been affecting all sectors, including education. There were questions surrounding the effectiveness of online trainings for teachers, online teaching practices, the motivation and engagement of students, and the quality of learning and education in these times. Action research emerged to address these concerns, being a systematic process of inquiry using reflection within a cyclical model of planning, acting, implementing, evaluating, and continuous reflection. While English language learners with disabilities, especially those with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) such as Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), may encounter barriers to their learning, few English language teachers (ELTs) are capable and confident in their ability to provide barrier-free learning environments. The OECD review of Gender Equality in Costa Rica: Towards a Better Sharing of Paid and Unpaid Work is the fourth in a collection of reports focusing on Latin American and the Caribbean countries, and part of the series Gender Equality at Work. The report compares gender gaps in labour and educational outcomes in Costa Rica with other countries. Particular attention is put on the uneven distribution of unpaid work, and the extra burden placed on women. It investigates how policies and programmes in Costa Rica can make this distribution more equitable. The first part of the report reviews the evidence on gender gaps and their causes, including the role played by social norms. The second part develops a comprehensive framework to address these challenges, presenting a broad range of options to reduce the unpaid work burden falling on women, and to increase women’s labour income. Earlier reviews in the same collection have looked at gender equality policies in Chile (2021), Peru (2022) and Colombia (2023).
