Engine Coolant Technologies

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

This volume consists of 14 manuscripts from the Fifth International Symposium on Engine Coolant Technology sponsored by the American Society for Testing and Materials Committee D15 on Engine Coolants, held in Toronto, Canada, in May 2006. Papers cover advances in system components, experimental testing, uses, and users' experience of automotive and heavy-duty applications. They focus on international coolant development, field testing of additives, recycling, additive compatibility, alternate coolant base technology, extended life oxidation and thermal stability, and new testing methods of cavitation, erosion, and localized corrosion. Contributors are international technical representatives from OEM and engine coolant producers. There is no index.

Gasket Design Selection And Testing

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Don't Blow A Gasket. . . Pick up Daniel E. Czernik's Gasket Handbook instead and arm yourself with all the know-how you need to design dependable, environment-friendly, long-lasting, high-performance gaskets. It's the only guide to cover design, selection, performance, efficiency, reliability, and testing of every type of ``static'' seal gasket: chemical, o-ring, metallic, and non-metallic. You'll find all the latest ASME codes, the proposed new ASME gasket constants, and in-depth explanations of: initial seal creation; seal maintenance; stress distribution testing; gasket design and environmental conditions; gasket installation; joint and gasket design and selection; sealing enhancements; rubber gaskets; failure mode and effects analysis; o-ring seals; finite element analysis; computers and gaskets; chemical gaskets; and more.

Engine Testing

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

The first edition of this book appeared in 1995, and has since gained widespread acceptance by practising test engineers on both sides of the atlantic. The purpose of this book is to bring together in one volume the large and scattered body of information on the theory and practice of engine testing and test plant design to which any engineer responsible for work of this kind must have access. the authors have long experience of all aspects of engine testing and have become aware that much of the essentially eclectic knowledge they had amassed was not available in any readily accessible form and indeed was in danger of being lost to the current generation of young engineers. Since publication three years ago, there has been considerable 'feedback', and the authors have become aware that amplification of several topics was desirable. Particular areas where the treatment has been expanded include: * computer control and data logging of test procedures * water supply and treatment * combustion air, supply, treatment, effects on performance * drive shaft design (a subject clearly of wide concern) * exhaust emissions and legislation: an update of this rapidly developing subject In addition a whole new section has been devoted to chassis dynamomenters and test methods for complete vehicles.
