We have worked hard, accomplished a major objective in life goals, attained the cultural level where respect has been secured with the potential to earn income such that we should never have to want for anything of a practical nature. Each of us during our training and schooling has striven to excel to demonstrate superior ability as we competed against other students for recognition of our accomplishments and our abilities. Yet, once we achieve the goal of becoming the professional that we aspire to be, we must step back and reflect on what we have and who we are. A successful practitioner is one who realizes that respect is a two-way street.

This book is physical proof of the invisible entities as incorporeal conscious forces of the universe. The supernatural fighting can be scientifically proven as reflected with ideological debate from religious humans of spiritual psychology. However, from the atheists, natural, and nonreligious states of minds, the scientific understanding does not call it spiritual war. Such alternative states of minds will perceive it to be called ideological debate. Since the death of Martin Luther King, Jr., it seems that we as black Americans have lost our way; we, as did the Hebrew Israelites, have been wandering in the "wilderness of sin and debauchery" for forty-plus years and have not been able to enter into the Promised Land. We have followed blind guides who have led us wandering in the wilderness. We have followed self-proclaimed black leaders whose leadership have been marred by deception, dishonesty, egotism, and a lack of integrity. For several years now, I have wrestled and agonized with the disturbing notion "Will somebody please stand up and tell my people the truth?" Human beings can be so compassionate. They can also be shockingly cruel. What if there was a master control for human behaviour? Switch it on and people are loving and generous. Switch it off and they revert to violence and greed. Pioneering neuroeconomist Paul J. Zak has discovered just such a master switch: a molecule in the human brain. Zak’s colleagues call him Dr Love. They also call him the vampire economist. He and his research team have travelled from his laboratory in California to the jungles of Papua new Guinea via a summer garden in Devon, taking blood from people as they attend a wedding, make decisions with money, play football on the field, even jump from an aeroplane. Their experiments to measure a chemical in the bloodstream called oxytocin reveal the answers to those mysteries about why we make the decisions we do: why we are sometimes rational, at other times irrational; why men cheat more than women; how the moral molecule operates in the market place, and most importantly, once we understand the moral molecule, how we can consciously use it to make our lives better.

While the sometimes tense interaction between the church and business can be documented in multiple locations, the author's own experience of this dynamic comes from the context of the Mennonite churches in Paraguay. Though his treatment of the church and business arises primarily from this particular context, the issues addressed are relevant for a variety of circumstances.

Intensive animal agriculture wrongs many, many animals. Philosophers have argued, on this basis, that most people in wealthy Western contexts are morally obligated to avoid animal products. This book explains why the author thinks that’s mistaken. He reaches this negative conclusion by contending that the major arguments for veganism fail: they don’t establish the right sort of connection between producing and eating animal-based foods. Moreover, if they didn’t have this problem, then they would have other ones: we wouldn’t be obliged to abstain from all animal products, but to eat strange things instead—e.g., roadkill, insects, and things left in dumpsters. On his view, although we have a collective obligation not to farm animals, there is no specific diet that most individuals ought to have. Nevertheless, he does think that some people are obligated to be vegans, but that’s because they’ve joined a movement, or formed a practical identity, that requires that sacrifice. This book argues that there are good reasons to make such a move, albeit not ones strong enough to show that everyone must do likewise.
