BOOK EXCERPT:
Dr Mark Stibbe fell in love with John's Gospel as a teenager. This set of devotional readings springs from profound reflection over many years, but the tone is inspirational and popular. He writes: 'John is my favourite Gospel. In John's Gospel, Jesus is the Son who reveals the Father. He is presented to us as the one who came to show us what the Father is truly like. He says of himself that he is the only Way to the Father and the one who discloses the truth about the Father heart of God. Every verse of John's Gospel reveals the Father. 'Together we consider 366 texts and look at how they reveal the Father who has adopted us, embraced us in his family, and promised never to abandon us. The purpose of every daily study is to turn what we learn into the language of adoration.'

BOOK EXCERPT:
This was to be a book about a woman who literally gave her life to her children by helping to raise a number of her own siblings after the deaths of her parents by age sixteen. She then went on to raise all of her children by herself, but since her death in March of 2003, I've decided to write about the benefits of raising three of her grandchildren to complete her legacy. This is a book to help young adults understand that they can achieve their personal goals, be it educationally, personally, and as parents if they attempt to do it right and with good intentions. This book is to remind young adults that having children is a grown up responsibility that is not to be taken lightly. This book also helps young ladies to love and respect themselves, and to not allow themselves to be taken advantage of. It shows young women that you could grow up, get a good education, learn from your mother and father, and marry a mate who loves you and is willing to be there for you. To be responsible parents who are everyday people, it takes commitment, determination, and not to be afraid to listen to those who could help you. It's hard for young adults to listen to those who could help, but as young people, it can only help you make your life better down the road. I'm sure that most young mothers, who decide to give their children up for adoption, wouldn't if they had their children's responsibility. As a young man, I wanted to give to my wife and children the things I didn't get and that my mother and the thing that my mother received, while she was growing up. All young adults have to do is believe in themselves, and I believe this book can help them do that.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Celebrate the dads in your life! After all they've done for us, dads everywhere deserve to be appreciated on a daily basis, rather than waiting all year for a card and tie (or some power tools). Though the holiday has morphed over the years into more of a commercial event, it's high time we got back to the idea of making Dad feel treasured and appreciated all the time. Think back on the many things, big and small, your father has done for you over the years—isn’t it time you started making those same gestures in the other direction? We think so! It is never too early, or for that matter, too late, to make a parent feel special. In these pages, you’ll find idea after idea that will encompass a wide variety of activities to get you thinking about how to make your dad feel special, even if you don’t live close by. Also included are quotes, and special stories and memories from numerous people about what makes fatherhood, or their own father, special. Go ahead and remember to buy that card and bring over some treats on the actual Father's Day, but in the meantime, here are some ways to make every day count . . .

BOOK EXCERPT:
'A great and inspiring book from Doncaster's bravest son. Read it in a day' - Jeremy Clarkson 'Ben is the embodiment of positive thinking. What he has achieved, in large part through willpower, is nothing short of miraculous. An inspiration to us all' - Ant Middleton The story of Ben Parkinson MBE, the most injured soldier to have survived Afghanistan --- What were you doing when you were 22? Where were you in the world? What did you want to do with your life? Ben Parkinson was a 6'4" Paratrooper. He was in Afghanistan fighting for his country. He wanted to always be a soldier, to be a father and to get home in one piece. But we don't always get what we want. So the question is: how do we react when that happens? Easy: You find something new to fight for. Ben Parkinson MBE is an inspiration to everyone. He suffered 37 injuries when his Land Rover hit a mine in Helmand in 2006, including brain damage, breaking his back and losing both his legs. This book follows the story of what led him to that moment his life changed forever - and what happened next. Doctors didn't think Ben could survive the trauma - then they didn't think he would wake up, or talk again, or walk again. Time after time, Ben pushed the ceiling on what was possible, going on to carry the Olympic flame in 2012 and receiving an MBE for the enormous feats he has undertaken for charity. What he has achieved in the face of adversity - for others as well as for himself - is nothing short of a miracle. Nerve-wracking, heart-warming and full of classic soldier's humour, Losing the Battle, Winning the War is a book you'll be thinking about long after the last page. 'Ben Parkinson is my hero. His story is one of immeasurable courage and character, a testament to the extraordinary resilience of the human spirit' - Dan Jarvis MP, author of Long Way Home
