As Genesis chapter twelve opens, the narrative picks up on the story of Abram, the tenth generation of Shem’s progeny. God directed Abram to move to a land that the Lord would show to him. Slowly, faithfully, generation after generation, the Lord directs, guides, and corrects Abram and his descendants through the annals of His redemption, fulfilling His promise of redemption in the birth of Jesus, Who directly descended from Abraham, through Whom all of the nations would be blest. Conceived by God’s Spirit, Jesus was also God’s Son, the Lamb of God sacrificed for the sins of the world, through Whom the creating, redeeming Lord of all creation would bring his wayward people back home to Him where they will praise His glorious Name for all eternity. The book of Genesis is not only the first book of the Bible detailing the beginnings of Creation and life as we know it, but also serves as the over-arching and pervasive sacred reference for the true understanding of the entire Bible as intended by the Author, God, the Spirit of Truth.

In Abraham in the Book of Jubilees, Jacques van Ruiten offers a systematic analysis of one of the most important and extensive Second Temple Jewish treatments of the figure of Abraham (Jub. 11:14-23:8). Given the importance of representations and reinterpretations of Abraham within Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, a careful analysis of this early source is an important contribution to research both on the evolving images of biblical patriarchs and on the history of biblical interpretation. There are many references to Jubilees in articles and books on images of Abraham. They are chosen for exegetical motifs, with little attention for its own literary and narrative dynamics, or for the specific writing and reading practices that it embodies and attests. De-colonising the Biblical Narrative, Volume Two is dedicated to the First Nations Australia in anticipation of establishing a Treaty that ensures their voice is heard within the constitution of the Australian government and acknowledging publicly the intrinsic value of their culture, espcially their spiritual bond with the Land on which they have been custodians for thousands of years. The precolonial treat and culture reflected in Genesis 12-25 establishes a biblical precedent for First Nations Australia to embrace and celebrate. Anyone reading the Abraham narratives of Genesis 12-25 who dares to identify with the worldview of First nations Australia-interpreters, First Nations Australia leaders, empathetic readers with de-colonised minds-will expect and discern three colonial factors influencing previous readings and interpretations of the narrative: language, interpreters, and narrators. A de-colonising hermeneutic is not only to become aware of past colonial translations of the narrative, but also to focus on the specific colonial dimensions of the narrative itself-reflected in the language, the idioms, the content or the theology of the narrative. The goal: to use this process of deep listening to discern and 'untangle' the precolonial narrative.

The genre of Genesis is a Narrative History, and Genealogies. It was written by Moses about 1450-1410 B.C. Key personalities include Adam, Eve, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebekah, Jacob, and Joseph. This book was written to record God's creation of the world and to demonstrate His love for all that He created. Genesis is the first book of the Law and also the first book of the entire Bible. The name Genesis literally means "In the Beginning." It explains the actual events of one of the most debated subjects of our current day...the origin of life. Genesis describes the Lord God, who is infinite and all-powerful, creating everything that exists, by the power of His spoken Word, out of nothing. He essentially creates material matter out of nonmaterial nothing.
