God S Grace Shining Through Law

BOOK EXCERPT:

Christians throughout the centuries have struggled to understand the relationship between God’s law and His grace. Sadly, many have inadvertently neglected either the law and fallen into antinomianism or they have neglected grace and run amuck into legalism. God’s Grace Shining through Law will help Christians young or old to navigate through these two errors and live in joyful obedience to the Word of God. May this volume be both a warning signal and a welcome sign, challenging each of us to examine our standing before a holy God and encouraging our hearts to rest in the grace of God that is ours in the gospel. Loving God And Neighbor

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

The Old Testament book of Deuteronomy is the Bible’s most elaborate explanation of what it means to love God and love neighbor. In fact, the book contains the Bible’s first explicit command to love God in Deut 6:4–5, often referred to as the Shema. Jesus quoted heavily from Deuteronomy during his ministry, and this book still contains many practical teachings for his followers today. Drawing from recent understanding of the book’s previously perplexing structure, we find that while the Ten Commandments are famously framed mostly as brief negatives such as “do not murder,” they were written to teach an open-ended array of positive ways to demonstrate love for God and neighbor. This book offers a positive restatement of each commandment to establish how Deuteronomy presents each commandment’s full meaning. This book will help readers discover the riches of the book of Deuteronomy by reading it with understanding. It will also offer the resources needed to lead a Bible study on or preach through Deuteronomy so that Christians are better prepared to love God and neighbor.

God Is Said To Do That Which He Only Permits

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

“It is usual in Scripture to attribute to the Supreme Power, acts which are virtually those of his instruments, and which he merely permits.” – Charles Edward Fraser-Tytler Many false charges have been leveled at God by His critics (atheists, agnostics, satanists, etc.) due to misreading the Bible. Part of the problem has been the failure to understand the idiomatic language used in the Ancient Near East, especially among the Hebrew people, from which our God inspired Scriptures have their origin. This failure has led to more misunderstandings about God and His inspired Word than we can attest to. While the Hebrews had numerous idioms I am fully persuaded that the most neglected one among theologians and Bible translators has been what I prefer to label as “the permission idiom”. This is the idiom that, as we will learn in this study, scholars tell us is one in which God is said to be the cause of that which He merely allowed or permitted or did not prevent from happening. May the Lord use this book to help you understand Him and your Bible better.

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

"The Great Commission" is a book written by Charles Henry Mackintosh, a Christian preacher and author, first published in the 19th century. The book explores the biblical passage known as the Great Commission, found in the Gospel of Matthew, where Jesus instructs his disciples to go and make disciples of all nations. Mackintosh's work delves into the significance of this commandment and its implications for believers in spreading the message of Christianity throughout the world. Drawing from biblical exegesis and personal reflection, he offers insights into the responsibilities and challenges faced by Christians in fulfilling this mission. Through a combination of theological analysis and practical guidance, Mackintosh encourages readers to embrace their role as ambassadors of Christ and to actively engage in evangelism and discipleship. He emphasizes the importance of faithfulness, perseverance, and reliance on the Holy Spirit in carrying out the Great Commission. "The Great Commission" serves as a call to action for Christians to heed Jesus' command to spread the gospel and make disciples of all nations. It continues to inspire believers to fulfill their missionary mandate and share the message of salvation with others, making it a foundational text in Christian literature.

Addresses On The Second Epistle To The Corinthians

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Like the preceding volume of addresses on First Corinthians, these messages were given on Sunday mornings to the congregation of the Moody Memorial Church and to the many thousands comprising the Radio audience. My desire was to make them as clear, concise, and simple as possible, so that the least instructed of my hearers might benefit by them. They were reported by Mrs. A. E. Kirchhofer, to whom I am greatly indebted for her competent stenography. H. A. Ironside Chicago, 1939
