BOOK EXCERPT:
This book is about the hope of mankind for a more satisfying and meaningful life based on the knowledge of God and Christ. A better understanding of the Word of God results in producing faith, hope, and love in the hearts of readers and believers. The complete Word of God revealed in the Bible is believed and practiced by millions. This book is written in language that is easy to understand and reveals the mystery of salvation for everyone. Author William Edward Dewberry hopes to give a comprehensible view of Gods plan that will lead readers to examine the Holy Scriptures more thoroughly and become better acquainted with the plan of God that is able to lead a person to salvation through their faith in Christ. The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart [that is, the word of faith that we preach] that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10) This book explains the redeeming plan of God, the great benefits of believing, and the dire consequences of ignoring the Creator and His Son, Jesus Christ. It explains Gods plan from the day of creation to the day that the earth and everything in it will be destroyed by extreme heat. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness. (2nd Peter 3:10-11)

BOOK EXCERPT:
This book offers an original contribution to debates about the problem of evil and the existence of God. It develops a Thomistic, Christian theodicy, the aim of which is to help us better understand not only why God allows evil, but also how God works to redeem it. In the author’s view, the existence of evil does not generate any intellectual problem that theists must address or solve to vindicate God or the rationality of theism. This is because acknowledging the existence of evil rationally leads us to acknowledge the existence of God. However, understanding how these two facts are compatible still requires addressing weighty, wide-ranging questions concerning God and evil. The author draws on diverse elements of Aquinas’s philosophy and theology to build an argument that evil only exists within God’s world because God has created and continues to sustain so much good. Moreover, God can and does bring good out of all evil, both cosmically and within the context of our own, individual lives. In making this argument, the author engages with contemporary work on the problem of evil from analytic philosophy of religion and theology. Additionally, he addresses a broad range of topics and doctrines within Thomistic and Christian thought, including God, creation, providence, original sin, redemption, heaven and hell, and the theological virtues. God, Evil, and Redeeming Good is an essential resource for scholars and students interested in philosophy of religion, philosophical theology, and the thought of Thomas Aquinas.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Rural communities and traditional cultures throughout North America and around the world are being systematically dismantled by the forces of urban civilization. It is no new phenomenon. For over four millennia, the powers of urban civilization have been playing God, oppressing people, and exploiting the earth. This long history has brought us to the brink of disaster in the current economic, ecological, and energy crises confronting the dominant global culture. This book reads the Bible through the lenses of rural communities. The Bible has something to say about the origin and character of urban civilization and the dynamic of its relationship to rural communities. Both Israel in the Old Testament and Jesus in the New Testament were engaged in the formation of rural communities of faith living as alternatives to the dominant cultures of the urban civilizations in which they lived. It turns out that local, face-to-face communities, both rural and urban, along with traditional cultures of all stripes, are God's chosen instruments for the subversive, nonviolent disarming of urban civilization and the healing of God's earth.

BOOK EXCERPT:
When Ben and Barbara Girod married in 1973, they had no idea their new life together would be one of shared burdens and blessings, lovely dreams and bitter disappointments. Both products of a strict and conservative Amish upbringing, they sought to know Jesus, and they wanted more than the form and tradition of their Amish upbringing. In An Amish Journey to Forgiveness, author Ben Girod tells his remarkable and unusual story of Amish life, reflecting his painstaking social and spiritual journey over many decades. His responsibilities as a bishop and church leader were manifold as he dealt with the predominant and inherent traditions of the Old Order Amish church. A divine encounter with God brought peace and joy to their lives, but this was soon followed by misunderstanding and rejection by family, church members, and leaders, ultimately ending in excommunication from their respective district. Devastated, confused, and unable to understand why this was happening, they turned to the Lord in search of meaning and purpose. An Amish Journey to Forgiveness shares their story as they began to understand that God was allowing such persecution and suffering to draw them closer to Him. It shows how God used Girod to bring about an awareness of the need for healing and reconciliation throughout the body.

BOOK EXCERPT:
The Holy Spirit at work The Gospel is spreading In this powerful narrative, Luke records specific historical events marking the crucial moments of transition from Jesus’ physical departure from earth (ascension) to the coming of the Holy Spirit to earth, focusing on the commission of the apostles and the beginning of the ministry of the Church of Jesus Christ in spreading the Gospel beyond Jerusalem to the ends of the world. Luke outlines an investigative historical narrative, detailing the works of the Holy Spirit through the apostles – primarily Peter, Stephen, and Paul. Although Luke’s narrative was addressed to an individual Acts 1:1, it is equally relevant to the Church of Jesus Christ across the ages. This verse-by-verse devotional study, complete with engaging commentary and practical life applications, will renew your appreciation of the grace of God in your own life and challenge you to pursue a closer walk with Christ. As you embark on this journey, surrender yourself to the living Word of God to inspire you to share the fundamental message of the gospel with others: we are reconciled to the Father not by our works, but only by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. This extensive Devotional Commentary candidly addresses various controversial issues and offers challenging devotional thoughts and precepts, assuring the redeemed and warning the unsaved about the unchanging Truth of God's Holy Word. May we heed the words of Christ and open our ears to "hear what the Spirit says to the churches."

BOOK EXCERPT:
What is the power of prayer? It is easy not to even think about prayer until trauma happens. Everything seems to be going very well until we slip and fall. Life is filled with beauty and joy until it isn't. Then is God listening? Silence is deafening, and the lack of communication is frightening. Many people know the familiar "Lord's Prayer" found in Matthew's Gospel, and for good reason. Some of us memorized it in our childhood. But actually, we may know little about prayer, or we have tried to avoid it altogether. Within varied denominations and customs, people have rituals and practices about prayer that are deeply ingrained. Some are very helpful, but some do not raise prayer above a mysterious obligation and a duty. Sadly, perhaps we have lost our "prayer innocence" with time, traditions, and the painful experiences of life. This book is a focus on unusual names or titles for God on the lips of Jesus in John's Gospel. Names reveal identity: who is God, who is Jesus, and who is the Holy Spirit? A better understanding of God can have a profound effect on one's prayer life. Knowing God is the power of prayer; it can move us from obligation to love. There are numerous books on "effective" or "successful" prayer in the "religious" section of the bookstore or on the internet. This is not one of those books. It is not about how to pray, but it is a book about the One to whom we pray. Life is a rocky, craggy trail, and we all need dependable, available help when we slip and fall. Then, we can lift our hearts and thank Someone who loves us. That is the power of prayer.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Christ's Redemptive Nuptials: The Incomparabe Marriage Of The Lamb is an inspiring narrative portraying the incomparable marriage of Christ and the church presented in storyline form. This narrative begins in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve in presenting graphic mental images of their serene enjoyment in this scenic wonderland. Afterward, it painfully describes the deceptive incursion of Satan, and the resultant temptation of Eve and the imprudent disobedience of Adam. However, it also shows how God's great compassion leads fallen mankind to Christ, and the resultant redemption in His divine works. It also portrays how the Holy Spirit enables believers to become the church. Afterward, this narrative shifts to an enactment of one particular church as ite members await the Rapture. Then, it enacts all of the End Time events. Finally, it enacts the delightful atmosphere of heaven. Grace to all and to God be the glory!
