BOOK EXCERPT:
I always believe in spirits, but I never spoke of it to anyone out of fear they would think I was crazy. However, I had many experiences that I thought I would share, since the idea of seeing spirits have become conversational. I remember the first time I witness something no one else could see; I was only a little girl. I didnt understand what I was witnessing. However, as I became of age and every time I witness something that wasnt there, I assumed I was going crazy. Nevertheless, the more stories I heard of spirits and that other people was experiencing the same thing I was. I know longer believed I was curse. However, over time I assumed that if I would pretend I didnt see anything. They would go away. Nevertheless, that didnt happen. I cant say that all my days of seeing spirits was bad experience some were good. While reading my book of chilling night stories Im not sure if you felt my book was fiction or not. Nevertheless, they were real experience with a little added affects. Out of all my experiences, the event that still haunts me on occasion is the devil. When I was living an ungodly life, I never experience such an event like that. However, when I decided to turn my life over to God, he appeared out of nowhere. The story that holds true to my heart is the phone call from my brother. When I lost my brother, my life had ended. I no longer wanted to exist without him. However, that phone call gave me the opportunity to see that he was happy. No one wants to loss a love one and no one wants to hear that his or her love one has moved on to a better place. However, his phone call allowed me to believe that they do. I hope you enjoyed reading about my ghostly experience. Even though it felt good to finally, share my experiences. It brought back many memories. In addition, I found myself not being able to sleep with the light off.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Sixteen Thousand Six Hundred Eighty-five Sunrises is a collection of humorous episodes concerning the life of John Estall Berry Jr. Most of the time, I was a willing participant in these, as I like to call them "Dad Stories." Dad only lived a short time here on earth, but each day he lived was filled with fun, as well as some not-so-fun teaching moments. Over the years, our family has recounted our memories and smile, cry, or simply laugh ourselves silly. Minus a smidge of poetic license and perhaps just a hint of exaggeration by the author, these stories are as truthfully told as can possibly be.

BOOK EXCERPT:
In Wonder and Exile in the New World, Alex Nava explores the border regions between wonder and exile, particularly in relation to the New World. It traces the preoccupation with the concept of wonder in the history of the Americas, beginning with the first European encounters, goes on to investigate later representations in the Baroque age, and ultimately enters the twentieth century with the emergence of so-called magical realism. In telling the story of wonder in the New World, Nava gives special attention to the part it played in the history of violence and exile, either as a force that supported and reinforced the Conquest or as a voice of resistance and decolonization. Focusing on the work of New World explorers, writers, and poets—and their literary descendants—Nava finds that wonder and exile have been two of the most significant metaphors within Latin American cultural, literary, and religious representations. Beginning with the period of the Conquest, especially with Cabeza de Vaca and Las Casas, continuing through the Baroque with Cervantes and Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, and moving into the twentieth century with Alejo Carpentier and Miguel Ángel Asturias, Nava produces a historical study of Latin American narrative in which religious and theological perspectives figure prominently.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Have you ever looked at the multitude of opinions on Christian doctrine and been confused? If the early church did not teach certain rituals, where did they come from? And what does the Bible say regarding these issues? In Misconceptions of Christianity, Author John Marcus explores many of the major doctrinal stances that do not appear in the Bible or in the very early church. His goal is to show the reader where the doctrines came from (or at least from where the misunderstanding stems) and what the Bible teaches concerning them. He covers topics such as: • Tithing and giving to the church • The doctrines of Mary and her veneration • The gifts of the Spirit, including the gift of tongues • The observance of Christmas and other religious holidays • Demonic possession and spiritual warfare • And many more This book guides readers through the confusion that modern Christianity can bring and leads them straight back to the source—the Bible. Its approach is both insightful and convicting, giving the reader a standard with which to judge his or her own actions instead of a set of rules to follow. With a strong belief that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, John conveys to readers the importance of a Christ-centered theology that stems directly from the Scripture. Author John Marcus has studied theology and lives in New York. Misconceptions of Christianity is his second book.

BOOK EXCERPT:
The Rock Music Imagination is an exploration of rock artists in their social and artistic contexts, particularly between 1964 and 1980, and of rock music in relation to literature, that is, creative expression, fantastic imagination, and contemporary fiction about rock. Robert McParland analyzes how rock music touches our imaginative lives by looking at themes that appear in classic rock music: freedom and liberation, utopia and dystopia, community, rebellion, the outsider, the quest for transcendence, monstrosity, erotic and spiritual love, imaginative vision, and mystery. The Rock Music Imagination explores blues imagination, countercultural dreams of utopia, rock’s critiques of society and images of dystopia, rock’s inheritance from romanticism, science fiction and mythic imagination in progressive rock, and rock’s global reach and potential to provide hope and humanitarian assistance.
