In response to a congressional request, GAO examined issues studied and recommendations made by the President's Private Sector Survey on Cost Control, better known as the Grace Commission, to determine whether: (1) the issues and recommendations made on program management and cost control had merit; (2) legislation would be necessary to implement the recommendations; (3) implementation efforts were completely underway; and (4) the savings estimates were realistic. GAO found that many of the issues studied and recommendations made by the Commission had overall merit and that, while many have already been implemented by legislative or administrative action, many more require additional legislative action to be fully implemented. However, GAO questioned the accuracy of many of the associated savings estimates, found flaws in the methodology used to develop some of the estimates, and found that the description of the methodology used in some estimates was insufficient to allow an assessment of its validity. In most of the instances where GAO questioned the methodology used, it believed that the savings were overstated. GAO supported management improvement issues more frequently than policy-oriented issues; however, policy-oriented issues constitute a large portion of the total estimated savings. GAO does not support restructuring federal subsidy programs and fixing federal health care costs to a percentage of the gross national product, and it disagreed with selected aspects of recommendations to reduce civilian and military retirement benefits. GAO support was most extensive in the areas aimed at strengthening federal management systems, federal automatic data processing operations, federal credit and cash management efforts, and civilian procurement and property management activities. GAO has made similar or related recommendations in nearly half of the areas in which it agreed with the Commission. Additional legislative action would be necessary to fully implement approximately half of the recommendations analyzed.

What do you want out of life? What are you pursuing? Happiness? Money? Fame? Fortune? Pleasure? Security? The ultimate prize is none of these but is actually something much higher and better: Christlikeness. It sounds formidable, but ask yourself one question: Dont you want to be like Christ? If you answered YES! then this book is for you! Have you ever asked yourself, How can I be more like Jesus? How can I stop sinning? How can I live consistently in a way that pleases God? Have you ever wondered what the scripture means, Without holiness no man will see the Lord? Does it distress you that many believers seem to disregard holiness because they think that they are not under the law? Have you ever thought about what it means to be under the law and under grace? Are you concerned that our nation has cast God aside and is pursuing a secularist agenda? How can that be reversed? Like Christ By Grace: Pursuing the Prize of Christlikeness By Gods Grace will give you the answers you seek. Jesus Christ supplies everything you need to be like Him. The book you hold in your hands is a message of encouragement and hope, as well as a challenging call to Christlikeness. No matter how many times you have fallen and no matter how miserably you may have failed, God is on your side. God is for you. Hes not about to give up on you. You can be like Christ by grace!

A gripping, enigmatic collection of linked short stories about the reverberations of a serial killer’s crimes in the lives of everyday people. In the small town of Barrow, Australia, people go about their ordinary lives. They drive to work through the dense state forest. They raise their families. They flirt and yearn. They lie and confess. Some of them leave home. Some of them return. Darkness thrums beneath the surface of these ordinary lives: the violence of one man, a serial killer whose murders made Barrow infamous. His twelve victims—women, men, mostly young—are long gone, but their deaths are felt, beyond the forest where they were buried, beyond this country, beyond even this time. In the past, where a young woman on a school trip to Rome sees something she shouldn’t have. In the present, where a man confronts an ancient grief on the suburban streets of Texas. In the future, in the hands of journalists and podcast hosts and television actors whose livelihoods hinge on the twin spectacles of loss and violence. Highway Thirteen is a luminous wonder: a book about the collisions between public and private selves, between parents and children, between history and what comes after, between the living and the dead. Fiona McFarlane’s roving vision is itself a story about stories—those we tell, retell, forget, sell, disprove, inherit, live through—and a work of extraordinary power and magic.

Children are at peace when those who care for them have learned to rest in God’s loving arms. I know this because long before my mother wrote this book I saw her live its truth. A Pillow on the Highway is a living, breathing exposition of Jeremiah 6:16, which brings into the brightest focus what the author has lived for decades and what God Almighty intends us to experience every day...a treasure of truth and testimony that will transform your life. LCDR Carey Cash, US Navy Chaplain, author of A Table in the Presence; Naples, Italy By using simple situations all around us to describe God’s abundant and gracious providence, we discover we can truly rest and trust in our God who is our pillow. Mark Gollop; Dorset, England A Pillow on the Highway is a strong message about how we have lost our way. The picture is the story of our lives. Each chapter brings us back to the only true rest – surrender, daily surrender to the sovereignty of God. Peggy Davis; Virginia Beach, Virginia In this unique book, Billie Cash shows us that Christ’s mighty, finished work opens to us a rest that our frantic, modern world can never deliver. In a deeply creative and most refreshing way Billie draws her reader out after this awesomely available rest. Here is comfort for the suffering, wisdom for the busy, insight for the thoughtful...inspiration on every page. Derek Bingham, adjunct professor of English Literature, John Brown University, AR; Prolific author; Belfast, Ireland

This manuscript is dedicated to my mother, the late minister Rose Marie Johnson. This book does not bear any reflection on any given person or place. The contents are my own personal perspectives with regard to the Bible—expressions, accounts, expectations, inspirations, and anticipated positive outcomes. The poems are short and long stories. They are simple and relatable. In addition, they’re based solely on my personal experiences, beliefs, events, and hypotheticals. So when you read this manuscript, remember that these poems and stories reflect years of events related to hardships, heartbreaks, and triumphs. However, with the help of God, prayers, doctors, caring people, and grace, I was able to recover and fight my way back. The road ahead is still long, but my Lord and Savior will be with me every step of the way.
