This medieval Georgian work details the ancestry of the Georgian kings, starting with Targamos, a descendant of Noah, who fathered eight renowned sons after the Tower of Babel's language division. Each son received a portion of land, establishing various cities in the region between the mountains of Ararat and Masis. The text emphasizes Targamos's legacy and the strength of his sons, particularly Haos, who ultimately leads a rebellion against Nimrod, the reigning king, asserting their independence and allegiance to the true God.

This is a relatively late account by the Syriac Patriarch of Antioch regarding the state of the church in Georgia. Its historic value for that reason is limited, as it does not grant much information about the antiquity of the ancient church in Iberia. However, it does serve as a reasonable travel log for the state of Christians in Ottoman Iberia during the 17th century. Our author appears to be concerned about the state of the church given the persecution that was levied upon it by Turkish authorities, and recounts that he feels additional attention needs to be paid for its future restoration.

A History of the Georgian People (1971) begins with an account of the early history and ethnographic background of Georgia, and goes on to cover the country’s political history from 1000 to 1800 and Russian conquest. There are chapters on the social history of the country, with much interesting information on the feudal system, religion, justice and the slave trade. The final, illustrated section, discusses the art and literature of the Georgians.

Appendices include "Mineral Resources of Georgia and Caucasia -- Manganese Industry of Georgia" by D. Ghambashidze (p. 67-152).

Based on an impressive array of sources, the author examines the lives of the Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities of Palestine against a background of the political and military events of the period.

Containing over 700 articles, this Dictionary allows the reader to explore Eastern Christian civilization with its cultural and religious riches. The articles are written by a team of 50 international contributors, including leading historians, theologians, linguists, philosophers, patrologists, musicians, and scholars of liturgy and iconography.

By the early 16th century the loosely knit kingdom of Georgia had disintegrated from the strong monarchy of the middle ages to a number of small states and principalities. This internal disunity made the Georgians easy victims of the power politics of the neighbouring Ottoman and Safavid empires and by the end of the century the southward drive of the Russians intensified the struggle for military and diplomatic control over the whole of the Caucasian isthmus. As a result of this struggle 17 embassies were exchanged between the Russian tsars and the Georgian kings ruling in Kakheti during the years 1564-1605. Mr Allen and Mr Mango (who undertook the translation) have selected the documents relating to the embassies of 1589-90 and 1604-05. Although the writers seem to be frequently preoccupied with questions of protocol, their observations give a clear picture of both current Russian administrative and diplomatic practice and of the life and customs of the peoples of the Caucasus and Georgia. The texts are further enlivened by dramas such as the murder of the Kakhian king Alexander II and the secret negotiations for the marriages of the son and daughter of the Tsar Boris Godunov. The documents are of considerable geographical interest as they provide the earliest extant accounts of the crossing of the main chain of the Caucasus from north to south. Mr Allen provides both a detailed background introduction and full commentary and notes on the texts. Volume II also contains some valuable genealogical tables which clarify the complicated relationships between the Caucasian royal and princely families and their connection with the Russian, Ottoman and Persian ruling families. The main pagination is continuous with the previous volume (Second series 138). This is a new print-on-demand hardback edition of the volume first published in 1970.
