Shirley Rose Nelson was born in a three-room house on the bank of a river at the foot of a mountain. She was a “rose” on Valentine’s Day, and God had plans for this twelve-pound baby girl. God and family molded her to learn to trust God in everything during sickness, sadness, loss, tragedy, death, failure, storms, heartaches, battles, and in all trials and challenges involved in living. In In God We Trust Everything, Every Day, she uses these experiences to offer a devotional providing people of all ages a source to God’s word, to be with God every morning to start their day. Each day brings a new Bible verse to help Christians feel God’s presence in their everyday lives. Providing uplifting messages, Nelson communicates that to survive and thrive you must trust God in everything, every day.

BOOK EXCERPT:

Biblical faith is being undermined and criticized with an increasing fervor in schools, on job sites, and in the marketplace. Are you equipped to face the onslaught of secular, anti-Christian values and viewpoints? Can you clearly state why you believe in Christ and the authority of the Bible? How does this work in your daily life? In God We Trust is a guided journey that will help you: Identify the influence of the secular worldview and how it attempts to compromise the Word of God. Distinguish between genuine authority and the counterfeit authority of so many at present. Realize how your commitment to God?s authority will impact your church, family, and others for Christ. Author Steve Ham, Director of Outreach at Answers in Genesis, clearly delves into the issues of faith and God's authority in the life of the believer in order to prepare you to stand firm. An intriguing exploration of why man was never meant to rule himself, but instead to operate within an authoritative structure designed by God. Steve is co-author of Raising Godly Children in an Ungodly World, and the popular evangelism series, Answers for Life.

The Passion Of Possibility

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

For Kierkegaard the most important thing in life is to become a single individual or a true self. We are all born as human beings, but this makes us only members of a crowd, not true selves. To become a true self, we must transcend what we are at any given time and orient ourselves to the possible and to the actuality of the possible, to which all that is possible owes itself. True selves exist only in becoming, they are fragile, and that is their strength. They are not grounded by their own activities, but in a reality extra se, the flip side of which is a deep passivity that underlies all their activity and allows them to continually leave themselves and move beyond their respective actualities toward the new and the possible. Therefore, without the passion of possibility, there is no truly single individual. This study of Kierkegaard's post-metaphysical theology outlines his existential phenomenology of the self by exploring in three parts what Kierkegaard has to say about the sense of self (finitude, uniqueness, self-interpretation, and alienation), about selfless passion (anxiety, trust, hope, and true love), and about how to become a true self (a Christian in Christendom and a neighbor of God's neighbors).

In God We Trust

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Today we are facing insurmountable problems because we have taken God out of our homes, schools, churches—and now our nation. Have we taken God out of our lives? Have we become too busy for God? Are we so preoccupied with the cares of this world or the things of this world that we don’t take time or make time for our God? In God We Trust is based on the fact that America started as a nation trusting God, and author B. B. Hicks goes on to look at where we are today as a nation, as a church, and as people of God. In God We Trust teaches us about how to get to know God, trust God, and turn back to God. And most importantly, it will help us learn how to stay connected to God. In God We Trust is a clarion call to the nation, as well as to the church, to turn back to God. We, as people of God, need to put first things first—and God should be first in our lives. We should perform a self-assessment to determine what are our priorities and what is first on our agenda. The Bible tells us that God is a jealous God, and he wants to be first in all things (Exodus 20:4–5). Through Jesus Christ, we can learn to put God first.

In God We Trust

BOOK EXCERPT:

A collection of humorous and nostalgic Americana stories—the beloved, bestselling classics that inspired the movie A Christmas Story Before Garrison Keillor and Spalding Gray there was Jean Shepherd: a master monologist and writer who spun the materials of his all-American childhood into immensely resonant—and utterly hilarious—works of comic art. In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash represents one of the peaks of his achievement, a compound of irony, affection, and perfect detail that speaks across generations. In God We Trust, Shepherd's wildly witty reunion with his Indiana hometown, disproves the adage “You can never go back.” Bending the ear of Flick, his childhood-buddy-turned-bartender, Shepherd recalls passionately his genuine Red Ryder BB gun, confesses adolescent failure in the arms of Junie Jo Prewitt, and relives a story of man against fish that not even Hemingway could rival. From pop art to the World's Fair, Shepherd's subjects speak with a universal irony and are deeply and unabashedly grounded in American Midwestern life, together rendering a wonderfully nostalgic impression of a more innocent era when life was good, fun was clean, and station wagons roamed the earth. A comic genius who bridged the gap between James Thurber and David Sedaris, Shepherd may have accomplished for Holden, Indiana, what Mark Twain did for Hannibal, Missouri.
