This book presents critical perspectives on teacher professional learning and professional development as interpreted in 14 countries across Europe. Bringing together experts from across Europe, the book fulfils a need for a better understanding of the changing nature of teacher professional learning in national policy contexts and of the cultural differences existing between various systems. It discusses the new thinking that has emerged in the field of teacher education alongside new models that reflect the changing patterns and policies relating to the ways educational professionals maintain and enhance professional practice. The book highlights that new models of teacher leadership and practitioner inquiry have a strong focus on pedagogy and social justice. It also examines briefly the challenges brought about by the Covid pandemic and the ways in which new approaches to professional learning, specifically the use of new technologies, have begun to transform practice in some countries in Europe. This collection focuses on the ways in which policy relating to professional development and professional learning in teacher education is changing across Europe. This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the Second International Conference on Technology and Innovation in Learning, Teaching and Education, TECH-EDU 2020, held in Vila Real, Portugal, in December 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the conference was held in a fully virtual format. ICT and Innovation in Teaching Learning Methods in Higher Education is a collection of interventions and collaborative practices from across the world that showcase the multifaceted ways of how various institutions have been engaged in supporting teaching and learning with the use of technology.

This volume is based on an ERASMUS+ project that ran from 2017 to 2020. It aimed at empowering both prospective teachers and teacher educators to actively become agents of their own continuing professional development. It further intended to cooperatively establish a culture of self-reflection, as well as an intercultural network of professionals who creatively use mobile technologies and innovative ways of teaching and learning in the field of foreign language teaching. All contributions were provided by our partners from Germany, Sweden, Spain, and the UK and give an excellent insight into all the manifold aspects dealt with in this project – including voices of participating students.

ICHSS is an international seminar that is held every two years organized by the Research and Community Service Institute of the State University of Malang. The meeting aims to discuss the theoretical and practical developments of Social Sciences and Humanities in Indonesia and other countries with a view to build academic networks by gathering academics from various research institutes and universities. Community empowerment serves as a trigger to increase community independence and to cope with the challenges resulting from the rapid development of technology. An important aspect of the community empowerment effort is to link the results of innovation research for the benefit of community. The results of research should not only be limited to publications in the academic environment. Open Access to various forms of the existing literature is one of the requirements for innovative research to develop optimally. Therefore, this seminar has also served as a place for field researchers from various geographical areas to socialize, to discuss and to find solutions to current issues in the field of social sciences and humanities, as well as to build cooperation and synergy in creating ideas for mutual collaboration and to create joint research.
