The first section of this report provides information on hurricane-recovery efforts. The second section of this report provides a summary of the work concluded in the area of elementary and secondary education, special education, and post-secondary education programs over the last six months. For 26 years, helping the Department identify and reduce waste, fraud, and abuse in the student financial assistance programs has been a top OIG priority. As detailed in the third section of the report, these programs continue to demand attention. The fourth section of the report highlights the audits, inspections, and reviews completed of the Department's internal operations and financial management. (Contains 7 tables.).
