'Sicily Herald and the Blazon of Colours' brings together the original texts with original English translations of two closely related primary sources on Renaissance colour symbolism. 'Le Blason de toutes armes et scutz' (The blazon of all arms and shields) was completed about 1420 by Jean Courtois (c. 1375-1436), the Sicily Herald, and printed in Paris in 1495. The second, 'Le Blason des couleurs en armes, livr es, et devises' (The blazon of colours in arms, liveries and devices), by Gilles Corrozet (1510-68), was published in Paris in 1527 by Pierre Le Brodeur. They were first two books on colour to be printed in Europe, and are now available in English for the first time in five centuries. Roy Osborne is an artist, educator and historian, and author of books on colour. He was awarded the Turner Medal of the Colour Group (Great Britain) in 2003, and the Colour in Art, Design and Environment Medal of the International Colour Association in 2019.

Sonic Encounters with Blanchot is the first book to explore the relationship of sound and music with the work of Maurice Blanchot. The volume brings together scholars from a range of disciplines who listen closely to the sounds and resonances emanating from within Blanchot’s work and who consider their significance both within his work and beyond. The latent and explicit sonic content of Blanchot’s writing is explored, as is his treatment of music and the possibilities of thinking about contemporary music and sound art through his work. Although Blanchot is best known for his engagement with literature, an engagement that often relies on visual references and experiences, this collection takes a sonic route into one of the most exciting and demanding thinkers of the twentieth century. As an interdisciplinary exploration of sound and Blanchot’s work, this book will be interest to those studying sound in literature and music, as well as students of Blanchot’s work in general. As we move into the next books in the series, I am probably skirting very close to the edge of what would be one of the symptoms of my condition. But it was very hard to leave much of this material out for a number of reasons. The first of these is that one cannot describe the lust for life that can be obtained when suffering the extremes of some conditions, such as manic depression, and some of the insights one discovers in the peaks of these conditions can be just as the book states it. That is to say if one has clarity during these times. Much of the material I have written during these times are actually during such experiences, but in hindsight, during editing, the material appears so comprehensive and logical I decided to include it to really give one insight into some true inner workings of the mind and the bigger issues we can face in our lives.
