John Templeton was born before 1755. He married Martha and they moved to Iredell County, North Carolina. Their children included Obadiah, Elizabeth, John, James, Martha or Patsy and Polly or Mary. Ancestral surnames include Handly, Marks, Folk, Pilcher, Colyar, Bate, Beall, Winston, De Puy and Trabue.

James Stewart, born around 1725, came into North Carolina, probably from Virginia. He is the great, great, great, great, great grandfather of the author through her mother. This is a genealogy of her family.

Family history and genealogical information about the descendants of Neil Brawley who was born ca. 1751 in Northern Ireland. He immigrated to America ca. 1771 and settled near Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Neil married Mary Mosmon ca. 1775. They lived in Iredell Co., North Carolina and were the parents of six sons and four daughters. Descendants lived in North Carolina, Illinois, Texas and elsewhere.

Patrick James Cahill was born in County Clare, Ireland in about 1810. He married Johanna Walsh. They had three known sons, William, James and Michael. They emigrated and lived in LaSalle County, Illinois. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Illinois, Ireland and Czechoslovakia.

Alexander Kerr was born in Ireland. He had two sons, Nathanial and John. Nathanial came to America where he married but they had no children. The sons of John later came to America where they settled in North Carolina. Their descendants are included in this volume tracing their settlement in North Carolina, and elsewhere in the central United States.
