This book reports on new theories and applications in the field of intelligent systems and computing. It covers computational and artificial intelligence methods, as well as advances in computer vision, current issues in big data and cloud computing, computation linguistics, and cyber-physical systems. It also reports on important topics in intelligent information management. Written by active researchers, the respective chapters are based on selected papers presented at the XIV International Scientific and Technical Conference on Computer Science and Information Technologies (CSIT 2019), held on September 17–20, 2019, in Lviv, Ukraine. The conference was jointly organized by the Lviv Polytechnic National University, Ukraine, the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, Ukraine, and the Technical University of Lodz, Poland, under patronage of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Given its breadth of coverage, the book provides academics and professionals with extensive information and a timely snapshot of the field of intelligent systems, and is sure to foster new discussions and collaborations among different groups.

This book is a tribute to Professor Jacek Żurada, who is best known for his contributions to computational intelligence and knowledge-based neurocomputing. It is dedicated to Professor Jacek Żurada, Full Professor at the Computational Intelligence Laboratory, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, J.B. Speed School of Engineering, University of Louisville, Kentucky, USA, as a token of appreciation for his scientific and scholarly achievements, and for his longstanding service to many communities, notably the computational intelligence community, in particular neural networks, machine learning, data analyses and data mining, but also the fuzzy logic and evolutionary computation communities, to name but a few. At the same time, the book recognizes and honors Professor Żurada’s dedication and service to many scientific, scholarly and professional societies, especially the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the world’s largest professional technical professional organization dedicated to advancing science and technology in a broad spectrum of areas and fields. The volume is divided into five major parts, the first of which addresses theoretic, algorithmic and implementation problems related to the intelligent use of data in the sense of how to derive practically useful information and knowledge from data. In turn, Part 2 is devoted to various aspects of neural networks and connectionist systems. Part 3 deals with essential tools and techniques for intelligent technologies in systems modeling and Part 4 focuses on intelligent technologies in decision-making, optimization and control, while Part 5 explores the applications of intelligent technologies.

This book is devoted to current problems of artificial and computational intelligence including decision-making systems. Collecting, analysis, and processing information are the current directions of modern computer science. Development of new modern information and computer technologies for data analysis and processing in various fields of data mining and machine learning creates the conditions for increasing effectiveness of the information processing by both the decrease of time and the increase of accuracy of the data processing. The book contains of 54 science papers which include the results of research concerning the current directions in the fields of data mining, machine learning, and decision making. The papers are divided in terms of their topic into three sections. The first section "Analysis and Modeling of Complex Systems and Processes" contains of 26 papers, and the second section "Theoretical and Applied Aspects of Decision-Making Systems" contains of 13 papers. There are 15 papers in the third section "Computational Intelligence and Inductive Modeling". The book is focused to scientists and developers in the fields of data mining, machine learning and decision-making systems.

The 2010 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Computational Intelligence (AICI 2010) was held October 23–24, 2010 in Sanya, China. The AICI 2010 received 1,216 submissions from 20 countries and regions. After rigorous reviews, 105 high-quality papers were selected for publication in the AICI 2010 proceedings. The acceptance rate was 8%. The aim of AICI 2010 was to bring together researchers working in many different areas of artificial intelligence and computational intelligence to foster the exchange of new ideas and promote international collaborations. In addition to the large number of submitted papers and invited sessions, there were several internationally well-known keynote speakers. This book gathers selected papers presented at the conference of the Forum for Interdisciplinary Mathematics (FIM), held at Palau Macaya, Barcelona, on 18 to 20 November, 2015. FLINS, originally an acronym for Fuzzy Logic and Intelligent Technologies in Nuclear Science, is now extended to Computational Intelligence for applied research.
