The increasing numbers of LGBT teenagers who choose to live their lives as ""out"" youth face unique issues within their schools, families, and communities. This book provides information that will help LGBT youth overcome their challenges and give non-LGBT youth a better understanding of sexual identities different from their own.

The Guest Editors of this issue have come together with the goal of producing a useful, basic guide on this population for pediatric primary care clinicians. This book presents six scholarly examinations of emerging issues in criminology and criminal justice as they impact LGBTQ+ people. It brings together contributions from leading international researchers exploring the needs of people of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities in the criminal justice context. In addition to focusing on how sexual orientation and gender identity impact access to justice for LGBTQ+ persons, the book also explores how to improve the work of justice practitioners, policing, and corrections in ways that address the unique needs of LGBTQ+ clients. Specific chapters include: a study of support for myths about male rape victims and how indicators of intolerance might shape such beliefs; two examinations of police responses to same-sex intimate partner violence, including an exploration of the role of mandatory arrest policies; an investigation into the barriers LGBTQ+ people face when attempting to access police liaison officers; an analysis of how media coverage framed the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida; and suggestions for creating safer and more effective interventions for LGBTQ+ women and girls who are correctional clients. LGBTQ+ Issues in Criminology and Criminal Justice will be a key resource for academics, researchers, and advanced students of criminology and criminal justice, law, victimology, policing, corrections, research methods, sociology, and media studies. This book comprises the proceedings of the TEQIP III Sponsored 2nd International Conference on “Gender Equity: Challenges and Opportunities” (2nd ICOGECAO 2020 -Virtual Mode), held at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat, Gujarat, India, from 25 to 27 November 2020. ICOGECAO provided a platform for researchers from multiple countries to present their views about the challenges associated with gender equity. Gender equity is one of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 5) set up by the United Nations in 2015, to promote and empower all genders equally. The Grand Challenges for Social Work (GCSW) provides an agenda for society, and for the social work profession. The 13 GCSW have been codified by the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare and are emerging as a significant underpinning in the education of undergraduate and graduate social work students throughout the USA.
