BOOK EXCERPT:
Mormonism will soon become one of the major religions of the world. The theological history of Mormonism begins after the flood of Noah and during the time the people were building the great tower to reach heaven. At this time, a colony of the faithful believers in God were brought to North America where they created a magnificent civilization. Later, other colonist left the Middle East and traveled to the Americas lead by prophets of God. The secret religion of Ancient America was recorded on metal plates and rediscovered in 1822. With other modern revelations and records from the tombs of Egypt, along with the Bible, they comprise the doctrines and history of Mormonism. Within this book are the secrets of the earth, and why God would create a world of good and evil. How we all came from another planet as spirits to inhabit mortal human bodies. Our objective on earth is only part of our continuing journey. It is a school to learn about good and evil forces and that only through obedience to all of God's laws can we graduate to glory. The Devil is a main character in God's plain to try and tempt us into transgression, rebellion and sin. This book is a Christian's Battle Manual on how to recognize and overcome evil. It is a history of God's world from its birth to its expected death and then on to eternity.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Bishop Fulton Sheen explains it all: Bishop Sheen shows that Christianity makes good sense even to nonbelievers. Indeed, Christianity alone can explain goodness and evil in the world; it alone makes sense of our impulses to love and sacrifice, and our failures to do so.

BOOK EXCERPT:
We live in a world facing many crises, pandemics, climate and environmental challenges, human rights abuses, and threats of totalitarian regimes. Romano Guardini (1885-1968), a major influencer of Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis, worked through one of the most difficult periods of German history--the first half of the twentieth century. What does he have to say to these challenges, and how is his notion of providence relevant today? Jane Lee-Barker shows how Guardini's insight and deep thought on God's providence weave their way through his work, enabling the reader to fully appreciate "God's world." In relationship with God, the human person is invited to participate in responsible care for the world while responding to their own vocational call from the God who sustains him or her.

BOOK EXCERPT:
America in God's World argues that human injustice in social-policy areas such as security, economy, and ecology can be traced to defective theology/ethics abroad in the land. Renewing biblical theology and ethics, and finding new ways to appropriate this wisdom into public policy, can bring renewal to our national life and help heal and reconcile our troubled world.

BOOK EXCERPT:
This book offers an original contribution to debates about the problem of evil and the existence of God. It develops a Thomistic, Christian theodicy, the aim of which is to help us better understand not only why God allows evil, but also how God works to redeem it. In the author’s view, the existence of evil does not generate any intellectual problem that theists must address or solve to vindicate God or the rationality of theism. This is because acknowledging the existence of evil rationally leads us to acknowledge the existence of God. However, understanding how these two facts are compatible still requires addressing weighty, wide-ranging questions concerning God and evil. The author draws on diverse elements of Aquinas’s philosophy and theology to build an argument that evil only exists within God’s world because God has created and continues to sustain so much good. Moreover, God can and does bring good out of all evil, both cosmically and within the context of our own, individual lives. In making this argument, the author engages with contemporary work on the problem of evil from analytic philosophy of religion and theology. Additionally, he addresses a broad range of topics and doctrines within Thomistic and Christian thought, including God, creation, providence, original sin, redemption, heaven and hell, and the theological virtues. God, Evil, and Redeeming Good is an essential resource for scholars and students interested in philosophy of religion, philosophical theology, and the thought of Thomas Aquinas.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Providing an accessible one-volume guide to Christian doctrine, this is a thorough re-write of the first edition. Since the original was published, many students and teachers of doctrine, in theological colleges and beyond, have been learning to take more seriously the global context of their work, and to recognise the difference made by facets of their identities and social locations like race, class, gender, and disability. In this edition, Mike Higton seeks to do justice to this learning, and invites readers to understand doctrine as an unfinished conversation between many different voices. Fully updated for clarity and yet retaining its role as a rigorous introduction to its subject, the book includes new ‘interruptions’, which introduce voices that question the book’s arguments and offer new directions for readers to pursue.
