My name is Sandra Douglas. I am forty four years old. I have been married twenty years to Jimmy Douglas. We live about forty five minutes south of Nashville, Tennessee. God has blessed us with two sons, Josh who is nineteen, and Matt who is eleven. I have been a stay at home mom since having children, and the past five years I have homeschooled. I am a wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who deals daily with life's struggles and blessings, just like you. I am very passionate about my faith, family, friends and life in general. Through the years, I have journaled. It has been my outlet, if you will. At the age of seven years old, Julia was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. This was during a time when there was little awareness that children do contract this disease. This is her journey from being wheelchair bound to graduating from Vanderbilt University with a double major. The journey she traveled was filled with obstacles and opportunties. The obstacles included eight joint replacement surgeries (the first at age 15), a major cervical fusion surgery, and numerous other surgical procedures. The opportunities she had included marriage, being a mother, serving as an advocate for others with disabilities through volunteer activities with the Athritis Foundation at the local, state, and national levels. She also had opportunity to share her faith in Jesus Christ as she walked the road set before her. Julia believed in the “teamwork” concept of dealing with her disease. Her team was led by Jesus, with her family, friends, and medical staff rounding out her team. It was Julia’s desire that through her journey others would see the strength and hope she experienced. Most importantly she shares that the Lord gives victory amid adversity. She knew this to be true because she has traveled this road.

John said, The Lord has been many years teaching me about His Grace. Every step of my walk with Him has been a teaching or learning experience. So many people think God is an Old Testament angry God. We must learn that the Old Testament tells of man's knowledge of God before Christ was born. Jesus died on the cross to give us a new life. Jesus teaches Nicodemus the necessity of regeneration or being born again. To explain what happens when we are born again is not an easy earthly experience. It is a supernatural experience. To be born of flesh is flesh but to be born of God is a choice... Each person is different because each of us are different. One may be born again and have a lot of tribulation in his or her life. Another may be born again quietly in their heart, maybe in bed or Church, etc. It makes no difference in one's salvation, only in one's heart. God looks on the heart not on the outward person. If our hearts are right with Him, He can enter in and be with us always. Christ is not in the sky, He is within us. He is for us. The Bible says, Man may let us down because people will always be changeable. God never changes. He says what He means in His Word and He means what He says. When we lean on Him and when we pray, we can be assured He will answer. Back to Grace... In my own life, to give you a life of Grace on paper would fill more than one book, I am sure. As a matter of fact there is a Bible verse that says, I suppose that if all the things that Christ did could be written in a book, the world cannot contain them. It is also true of our own life, if we try to document our day-to-day activity... We could not possibly write them all down. I am 82 years young now, so you can imagine how large that book would be or should I say those books... And how many books would there be? I have had many trials, tribulations and joys in that time. Just receiving Him as my Lord and Savior at 42 years of age shows me His Grace in my life. I could have ignored His call on my life and gone to Hell! Maybe you don't believe there is a Hell? Well it's in the Bible my Dear Friend. It is a place where the worm dieth not. Some people live such a hard life they think Hell is on the Earth. Well it probably is a forerunner but nothing like the Hell after this life... It is eternal. But let's not trust in only one verse... Let us see the full description of the last Judgment as Jesus Himself taught, We must not forget Jesus other teaching about Hell... His teaching about the rich man and Lazarus, the beggar, Christ dying opened up Heaven for us. When we pass away, He has created a beautiful place for those who have accepted Him as Lord and Savior. In spite of constantly dealing with his disability, it was a whole new ball game when he woke up paralyzed from the neck down, the very next day after venturing out on his own, relocating from Detroit, Michigan, to Carson, California. Armed, sometimes only with his faith in God’s love, he overcame his life’s struggles, and lived an amazing life.
