Low Carbon Economy And Health In The Context Of Carbon Neutrality

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Global warming has led to increasing climate risks, and climate change is a global issue facing mankind. Therefore, most developed countries have set a clear goal of achieving carbon neutrality after reaching peak carbon emissions. In the context of global warming, "low-carbon economy" based on low energy consumption and low pollution has become a global popular research topic. At present, the international community has formed a consensus on green transformation and taken practical actions. At the same time, the achievement of the carbon neutrality goal has highlighted the importance of public health, and therefore, a series of new research directions are emerging, and how to develop a low-carbon economy and protect public health while achieving the carbon neutrality goal has become an important issue. In the post-epidemic era, economic recovery and public health issues need to be addressed, and a low-carbon economy and public health will face even greater challenges, with carbon neutrality goals placing this issue at the forefront. For this Research Topic, we would like submissions that provide research results on topics such as green development, green low carbon, resource conservation, low carbon economy, low carbon development, low carbon living, low carbon living, low carbon society, population health, health distribution, health awareness, health behavior, and public health. Quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches are welcome to explore the low carbon economy and public health from multiple perspectives. - The developmental history of the low-carbon economy, the level of development, and the evaluation of the level of development. - The many challenges faced by the low-carbon economy in the development process and how to deal with the challenges in the development process. - The development of a low carbon economy is influenced by a variety of factors, such as low carbon investment, policy norms, technology development, energy development, and digitalization levels, etc. We would like research works which study the factors that influence the development of a low carbon economy. - Analyze which industries will have an impact on the development of a low carbon economy, including but not limited to the energy industry, transportation industry, and construction industry. - To study the factors that affect the development of public health and how to improve public health. - To study the impact of residential environment, sports environment, community environment, etc. on public health. - To study the methods used in studies related to the development of a low-carbon economy and public health development. - To analyze the impact of the development of a low-carbon economy on other industries, such as international trade, the real estate industry, and tourism.

Innovative Approaches Towards Low Carbon Economics

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Climate change is an inevitable and urgent global challenge with long-term implications for the sustainable development of all countries. To overcome this human crisis, the scientific consensus is driving global action towards low carbon economics. Though this action has to involve all sectors (industries, governments, and citizens) and at all levels (global, national and regional levels), the implementation of climate strategies will predominantly be at the regional level. By establishing an innovative range of model technologies, this book aims to develop systematic quantificational methods, such as uncertain multi-objective programming models and system dynamics models, to provide a new approach to low carbon economics that can serve as a paradigm for general regions. At the same time, it offers decision makers a number of effective strategies for some key issues in regional low carbon development, such as greenhouse gas control, ecological capacity evaluation, regional economic prediction, energy structure optimization, land resource utilization, industrial structure adjustment, low carbon industrial chains, low carbon transportation systems and low carbon tourism. It also provides researchers with a new perspective on how to address social problems using quantitative techniques.

Economic Environmental And Health Consequences Of Conservation Capital

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

This book tackles the oft ignored role of conservation capital in mainstream discussions in maintaining sustainable development of a country in particular, and the world economy in general. A continuous increase in global temperature trends, climate change, and other related factors has compelled academicians from natural as well as social sciences to reorient classical thought from high growth through large resource extraction, to sustainable growth through lower extraction. This leads one to the important role of generation of conservation capital to satisfy long-term growth and development objectives of economies. This book covers studies on the related issues of conservation capital, environmental crisis, and health impacts from the perspectives of different countries. The highlight is inclusion of some studies on the impact of environmental degradation in relation to COVID 19 pandemic. The book coaxes policy makers to rethink on the optimum use of environmental resources for economic and social activities. The broad coverage of studies included from different regions across the globe ensures that the book finds a wide readership among students and researchers from economics and other social sciences and natural sciences, along with policy makers intent on forming policies leading to a more sustainable growth model.

Energy Economy And Climate Interactions Challenges And Opportunities Volume Ii

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

This Research Topic is Volume II of a series. The previous volume can be found here: Energy, Economy, and Climate Interactions: Challenges and Opportunities Climate change is one of the biggest risks to global development, and it poses a severe threat to the economic and social development of all countries, which has originated largely from the greenhouse gas emissions related to energy use. This, coupled with the worldwide economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and global energy supply shortage resulting from international instability, highlights the necessity and urgency of the collaborative promotion of addressing climate change, energy security, and economic growth issues. Green and low-carbon transformation of global energy is the key to mitigating climate change, guaranteeing energy security, and promoting economic recovery. This Research Topic aims to address advances in systematic studies on climate, energy, and socio-economic development issues based on theories and methods of multiple disciplines including Economics, Management Science, Natural Science, and Engineering Technology. Authors are encouraged to adopt self-developed or mature models such as integrated assessment models, energy optimization models, input-output models, air quality models, or climate models. We are particularly interested in applied studies that provide insightful information to facilitate reducing pollution and carbon emission actions related to energy utilization and other behavior changes to mitigate and adapt to climate change, preserve the ecological environment, and promote sustainable socio-economic development.

Economic Development And The Environmental Ecosystem

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

This volume illustrates the relationship between environmental factors and economic development of countries from various angles. Global warming has become a problem that threatens the whole world, especially in recent years. It is known that the main reason for this is carbon emissions. On the other hand, carbon emissions generally consist of fossil fuel-based energy consumption. This situation creates very serious environmental problems. Because of this problem, the concept of carbon zero has become very popular, especially in recent years. Many countries take some actions to minimize carbon emissions. Especially in the coming years, carbon emissions will become a competitive factor for countries and businesses. In this respect, countries with low carbon emissions will be preferred more in foreign trade. In addition, businesses that do not generate carbon emissions in the production process will also gain a significant competitive advantage in international trade. The contributions take a multidimensional outlook to energy investments and offer solutions for decision-making for energy projects in risky business ecosystems.
