As stated by Benjamin Franklin on June 28, 1787, to the Constitutional Convention, "I have lived, Sir, a long time and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth-that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings . . ." Have you ever wondered how this manifesting thing works? If you watch the spiritual channels on the television, you know the ones buried after the end of the lineup, manifesting health, wealth, and prosperity sounds so simple. All you need to do is ask for it, believe you can get it, and you will have it. Right, do you know anyone who has received any of the gifts that the spiritual channels are talking about? Do you know anyone who has been healed or is no longer in debt by manifesting health or prosperity? If it is that simple, why can I not receive it? Why is it that no one I know has received? This volume directs attention to the teaching of Jesus; it introduces the question of how the imagination has to work in order to retrieve the teaching of Jesus and apply it to actual life in our day.
